Rumors don’t shake locker rooms unless there’s something real underneath, and right now, A.J. Brown is sitting at the center of both noise and concern. As trade chatter quietly builds around the Philadelphia Eagles star, a far more alarming storyline is emerging from the medical side.

A doctor’s warning has added fuel to the fire, calling Brown’s knee a “ticking time bomb.” Suddenly, this is not just about roster moves; it is about risk, and whether the club is staring at a problem it cannot afford to ignore.

How A.J. Brown’s Medical Concerns Are Impacting Trade Rumors

Dr. Jeff Mueller, who has experience in analyzing NFL injuries, weighed in on Brown’s future. “I will continue to say that AJ Brown’s knee is a ticking time bomb and had athleticism regression last year, because there continues to be valid objectives that prove it to be true,” the doctor wrote on X. “Time to get off of him in Dynasty.”

He pointed to signs of athletic decline last season as further evidence, adding that there are still clear, objective indicators supporting that view. From a long-term perspective, he suggested that dynasty managers may be wise to consider moving on before his value begins to decline.

Brown’s knee concerns have developed over several years rather than stemming from a single injury. The first major issue surfaced in 2020, when he missed time with a knee bone bruise while playing for the Tennessee Titans. Following that season, in January 2021, Brown underwent cleanup surgeries on both knees, indicating underlying wear and tear.

The problem did not fully go away. In 2023, he dealt with a late-season knee sprain that affected his availability during a critical stretch. Then, in 2024, Brown suffered another knee injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars, though tests confirmed no structural damage, per Draft Sharks.

However, the bigger concern came later that season. Brown revealed the knee had been bothering him since around Week 15 and impacted his playoff performance. Reports also indicated ongoing swelling that required consistent management, reinforcing that this is a recurring, long-term issue rather than an isolated injury.

Two days ago, on Wednesday, Mike Florio said, “They were talking to the Eagles about A.J. Brown.” He also added, “They got scared off by some of the – as I’m told – preliminary medical research. They decided, too much of an investment for a player at this age, general wear-and-tear. ‘We’re not going to do it.’”

Right now, only a couple of teams are genuinely linked to Brown. The New England Patriots are seen as the most serious suitor, with ongoing interest and reported discussions.

The Los Angeles Rams have also explored a deal, though concerns about his knee have reportedly made them cautious. Other teams, like the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens, have been mentioned, but mostly in speculative scenarios rather than in active trade talks.

With his knee issue now under increasing scrutiny, Brown’s trade market has taken a noticeable shift. What once looked like a straightforward blockbuster situation is now being re-evaluated through the lens of long-term durability and risk.
