The 2026 Miami Open began on March 17 and will run until March 29, 2026. The ATP Masters 1000 tournament matches are being played on outdoor hard courts at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Alcaraz is the top seed and will begin his campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye.
The seven-time singles Grand Slam champion achieved his best result at the Miami Open in 2022 when he defeated Casper Ruud in the final to win the title, becoming the youngest men’s singles champion in the tournament’s history.
In his opening match at the 2026 Miami Open, Alcaraz will face the winner of the first-round match between Fábián Marozsán and João Fonseca. Alcaraz and Marozsán have played each other three times on the ATP Tour, with the Spaniard winning two of those matches.

Their most recent encounter was in the second round of the 2025 French Open, where Alcaraz won 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. He went on to reach the final and defeated Jannik Sinner to defend his title, securing his second title at Roland Garros and his fifth Grand Slam title overall.
Alcaraz and Fonseca have never faced each other on the ATP Tour, so their potential second-round match in Florida will mark the first time they compete against one another.
The winner of the second-round match between Alcaraz and either Marozsán or Fonseca will advance to face the 32nd seed, Sebastian Korda, Camilo Ugo Carabelli, or Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the third round of the tournament.
