The matches are now expected to begin alongside the men’s qualifying rounds on March 16. The women’s main draw first round commences on Tuesday, while the men’s singles first round is on Wednesday, March 18.

Format for the WTA/Masters 1000 Event in Miami

Just like every year, the 2026 Miami Open follows a knockout format, with 96 players entering the main draw in both men’s and women’s singles events. This means that the top 32 players, the seeded ones, will receive a bye in their first matches, stepping foot on the courts directly in the Round of 64 matches.

The Seeded Players of the 2026 Miami Open

Seeding is based on the ATP and WTA rankings, and the following are the top 32 seeds in the men’s and women’s singles draws.

Jakub Menšík is the ATP defending champion, who stopped the Serbian legend Novak Djokovic from capturing his 100th career title in the finals last year. Djokovic has withdrawn from the event this year, citing a right shoulder injury.

The top-seeded woman, Aryna Sabalenka, is the defending champion on the WTA side. She won the title by defeating Jessica Pegula without dropping a single set in the entire tournament.
