Jessica Pegula’s spirited campaign at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open concluded with a tough quarterfinal defeat to third seed Elena Rybakina. Yet even as her time at Indian Wells wrapped up, the American star offered glimpses of her vibrant experiences on and off the court, building excitement for her next challenge at the Miami Open.
Jessica Pegula Exits Indian Wells Open with Joyful Highlights
Pegula charged into the Indian Wells Tennis Garden as the fifth seed, toppling World No. 17 Donna Vekić in the round of 64 and surpassing Jeļena Ostapenko in the round of 32. Facing Swiss star Belinda Bencic in the round of 16 and clinched the win with a final scoreline of 6-3, 7-6 (5).
Before this match, Pegula had clashed with Bencic four times and lost each and was determined not to let history repeat itself. She secured the win and reached the quarterfinal round, where a fierce opponent awaited her. However, despite her elite form, Pegula couldn’t get past Rybakina, the Australian Open champion, who ended her title hopes with a concluding scoreline of 6-1, 7-6(4).
After concluding her run, Pegula shared beautiful glimpses of on- and off-court moments, featuring snapshots with Jennifer Brady and Desirae Krawczyk. The three of them, along with Madison Keys, host ‘The Player’s Box’ podcast and will be doing a live episode
at the Miami Open on March 15.
Pegula also posed with a relaxed air amid a beautiful backdrop of trees and mountains, among other glimpses. She added in the caption of her Instagram post, “Playing some good tennis these days.”

Before facing Rybakina, Pegula had reflected on how she constantly seeks new ways to elevate her game and is always eager to learn and improve her form. She expressed this via the BNP Paribas Open’s official site, adding, “I think right now I’m just very open to learning. I’m always very open to trying new things. I think one of the strengths I have as an athlete is probably being able to change something and implement it very quickly.”
Pegula continued highlighting her ways of learning, sharing, “Watching other players, watching what players do really well, and trying to implement certain things into my game and seeing if I can do the same thing.”
Looking ahead, Pegula is set to return to the WTA 1000 Miami Open, eager to reclaim the title she narrowly missed last season against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
