Cameron Norrie Asked His Fiancée To Marry Him in the Wilderness: Brit Tells His Story

A look at Cameron Norrie's engagement and fiancée Louise Jacobi as he prepares to face Carlos Alcaraz in the Indian Wells quarterfinals.

British No. 2 Cameron Norrie has revealed details of his engagement to long‑time partner Louise Jacobi after proposing during an off‑season safari trip in South Africa. The proposal’s location was special to the British Champion, as it was the country of his birth.

Right before his quarterfinal clash with Carlos Alcaraz at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, the World No. 29 shared intimate information from the family holiday and a new chapter in his life away from the tennis courts.

Cameron Norrie’s South African Safari Proposal

Norrie revealed that the proposal came during a recent family safari in South Africa, his first visit to the country after his birth. “Yeah, I was on a safari in South Africa. Actually, I was born in South Africa, so it was the first time I went back there,” he revealed in an interview with the Tennis Channel at Indian Wells, describing it as “an amazing trip with my family.”

The British Champion said he had picked a specific evening during their Safari to propose and had asked their guide for help with the arrangements.

“I told the guide on our first day, ‘I think I’m going to propose on this specific evening, you got a spot for me?’ And he’s like, ‘Man, I got you. I got this huge spot,'” Norrie recalled. The guide then took them to a watering hole “with like the hippo, the rhino, the crocodile,” where the management had already set up drinks and snacks for sunset.

By then, Norrie suspected Jacobi had an idea of what to expect that night.

“We just drove, and there were some drinks and some snacks waiting for us that they had prepared for the sunset, and I think at that point she knew,” he said. “I looked at her, and she was kind of smiling, and I was like, ‘Okay, she knows now.’ But she was super happy.”

He admitted the proposal felt “a bit tight” but called it a “special, special moment,” joking that it is “nice to win some matches here to pay for the wedding.”

The couple later shared the exciting news on social media, posting photos from andBeyond Ngala Safari Lodge in South Africa, where Norrie asked the question, captioned, “A special moment on our trip in South Africa. Cheers to a beautiful life together with my best friend 💫🌟💫(Note: real engagement ring to come).”

Who Is Norrie’s Fiancée, Louise Jacobi?

Norrie’s fiancée, Jacobi, is a textile and fashion designer who has been a constant presence in his player box at the biggest events on tour. She has worked at the design studio “Please Don’t Touch” and runs her own homeware and accessories brand, Studio Virgo, as well as other creative projects.

The pair first met in 2019 through mutual friends at a bar in New York when the British champion was on the North American hard-court swing, and they have been together since. Jacobi’s friends who played college tennis introduced her to “some guys playing in the US Open,” one of whom was Norrie, and it eventually led to an invitation to watch him at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna later that year.

At the time, Jacobi had just lost her job after her employer went bankrupt, which allowed her to travel, and she later said that fate helped them build their relationship before the pandemic disrupted the tour.

Jacobi has described being unsure about dating a top‑level player, admitting she initially wasn’t interested because of Norrie’s uncertain schedule. However, his continuous efforts to stay in touch slowly changed her mind, and the Vienna trip bloomed into a long‑term relationship.

Norrie is set to face World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament at Indian Wells, where he lifted the trophy once in 2021. According to PFSN’s exclusive interactive simulator, the Spaniard has a 93% chance of maintaining his unbeaten record in 2026 and advancing to the final four.
