Three of the biggest names in women’s basketball, Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Paige Bueckers, all sharing the floor for the same team, were always going to be must-watch television. On Wednesday in San Juan, Puerto Rico, it finally happened. Of course, the WNBA world had a lot to say about it. The reactions came fast, the clips went viral, and for good reason. This felt like a glimpse into the future.
‘Must-Watch Basketball’: WNBA World Sounds Off on Star-Studded Team USA Roster
The backdrop was Team USA’s FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament opener against Senegal, a 110-46 blowout that served as the stage for the senior national team debuts of Clark and Bueckers. Reese, who had previously represented the US at the 2023 AmeriCup on an all-collegian roster, rounded out the trio.
For the first time, all three were on the same team in competitive action, and the internet noticed immediately.
WNBA column writer Christan set the tone early, sharing a collaborative clip of Clark and Reese with a simple declaration: “Caitlin Clark to Angel Reese will feed families for generations.” The two were once fierce rivals, and seeing them connect on the same team clearly resonated.

Social media personality @ItsCwaysWorld captured the broader sentiment just as perfectly. “Wait… Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, and Paige Bueckers in the SAME lineup?? Yeah, this is must-watch basketball,” she wrote, adding a popcorn emoji.

Host of OVERALL @TWDTV1 found entertainment in an unexpected moment, noting: “Very entertaining is seeing Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark simultaneously question the referee.” Even their shared frustrations with officiating were apparently appointment viewing.

Perhaps the most talked-about individual moment came when Clark found Reese for her ninth assist of the night. @ericaf455 captured it simply: “Caitlin’s 9th assist goes to Angel Reese.” The clip spread widely, symbolising everything fans had been hoping to see from this lineup.

USA Basketball’s own account got in on the fun too, sharing a clip of the two exchanging the ball with the caption, “That’s turnt.”

A Dominant Night Featuring Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Paige Bueckers Will Bode Well for the World Cup
The result was never in doubt. Team USA led for nearly 39 of the 40 minutes, shooting 60.7% from the field and knocking down 17 three-pointers in a commanding display.
Clark led the way with 17 points and 12 assists in just 20 minutes, shooting 4-of-5 from three. Rhyne Howard topped all scorers with 21 points, while Bueckers contributed 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in 14 minutes. Reese, true to form, led all rebounders with 8 boards to go with 6 points.
The trio all graduated from high school in 2020 and have never played together competitively until now. “Our young core has been really great,” Reese said before the tournament. “And we haven’t been able to play with each other ever.”
That dynamic, combined with the star power on display, has given the fanbase plenty of reasons to tune in. Team USA is back in action Thursday against hosts Puerto Rico, with tip-off set for 8 p.m. ET on truTV and HBO Max.
