There’s an unprecedented situation going on right now between Maxx Crosby, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Baltimore Ravens. The Raiders and Ravens agreed on a trade involving Crosby last week, but the Ravens decided to back out of the deal on Tuesday night.
It’s a wild situation that has fans of other teams hopeful that they can now reenter the Crosby sweepstakes. However, one insider doesn’t foresee the Dallas Cowboys making a move for Crosby now.
Jane Slater Says Dallas Cowboys Unlikely to Pursue Maxx Crosby
Before the original deal was announced, the Cowboys were rumored to be in the running to land the star. The Cowboys traded away star pass rusher Micah Parsons last offseason, so adding a player like Crosby would obviously be appealing. However, Cowboys insider Jane Slater doesn’t foresee the Cowboys making a move for Crosby now.
“If there’s a risk there, and the Cowboys were going to give up a first-round pick, a veteran player, and a second-round pick, that’s a pretty big gamble if there’s a high-risk assessment,” Slater explained.
The Ravens claim that Crosby failed his physical with the team, and that’s why they backed out. It is worth noting that Crosby was held out of the final two games of the 2025 season, even though he did make it known he disagreed with that decision.
“Knowing that (Cowboys’ team doctor Dan Cooper) consulted the Ravens, I actually think it’s easier to understand why the Cowboys are saying, ‘We’re good right now,'” Slater said.

It’s understandable why the Cowboys would be skeptical if one team already backed out of trading for Crosby. There’s no doubt Crosby is an elite talent, but giving up that much draft capital can set a franchise back years if it doesn’t work out.
Raiders Must Resolve Crosby’s Future Quickly
It’s clear that Crosby is not happy in Las Vegas and both sides are ready to move on. It’s also important for the Raiders to get Crosby’s money off the books to accommodate the free agents they’ve reportedly agreed to deals with.
The Raiders have been busy this week, reportedly agreeing to big deals with players like Tyler Linderbaum, Kwity Paye, and Quay Walker, among others.
Whoever gets Crosby will be getting one of the best edge rushers in the league. In 2025, Crosby played in 15 games and collected 73 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks. PFSN’s EDGE Impact metric gave Crosby an elite 95.3 grade for his performance in 2025, which ranked second out of 123 qualified edge rushers.
