Maxx Crosby was a member of the Baltimore Ravens until he wasn’t. The Ravens have shocked the NFL world and backed out of their blockbuster agreement for Crosby. Today is a reminder that all trades before the new league year can’t be made official until that begins. Now, the trade won’t be happening, and the sweepstakes might be open once again.
The NFL world was absolutely floored and expressed their thoughts on the chaos.
NFL World Reacts to Maxx Crosby Trade Getting Called Off
The Ravens are not getting Crosby and will have to go back to the drawing board to find another edge. NFL insider Jordan Schultz heard that Trey Hendrickson might be heading to Baltimore instead.
“Text from a GM: ‘Baltimore is gonna sign Trey Hendrickson. Watch,'” said Schultz.

Even though they might get Hendrickson, Schultz is not moving past this wild outcome.
“Forget just the NFL: this Maxx Crosby ordeal is now one of the strangest situations I’ve ever seen in pro sports. Period,” said Schultz.

It’s hard for the NFL world to believe such a blockbuster would be cancelled by the team set to acquire the headline piece. But it happened, and the Crosby saga takes its latest turn. The Ravens pulled out of the deal due to a failed physical, according to Dianna Russini.
Crosby isn’t the only player who was nearly a Raven. Terrell Owens was also close to joining the Ravens during his career, but never played for Baltimore.
“Terrell Owens and Maxx Crosby are Mount Rushmore ‘Almost Ravens’,” said NFL reporter Daniel Oyefusi.

Crosby was ready to be a Raven. He had changed his social media profiles to pictures of himself in a Ravens uniform.
Former NFL player Will Compton shouted upstairs to his wife to deliver the news. “The Ravens backed out of their trade,” said Compton.

NFL reporter Jane Slater had a simple reaction to the news: “I’m just stunned.”
This deal will go beyond just the Ravens and the Raiders. Teams will be altering their strategies with Crosby back on the market.
“This has to be the first trade for 2 first-round picks that winds up not going through. Massive implications for both teams as well as the ripple effects across the league,” said NFL insider Jonathan Jones.
NFL insider Field Yates added further fuel to the fire about the potential ripple effect this could cause.
“This Maxx Crosby situation is crazy. There are massive ripple effects from it. The Raiders’ free agency approach changed when they traded him. Other teams who wanted Crosby pivoted as well. The draft picks involved. And now, the future of Crosby is the biggest question in the NFL,” said Yates.
The resolution of the Crosby saga is still uncertain after the deal fell through. From being the headline deal of the offseason so far to one of the wildest stories in all of sports, Crosby’s future will be watched like a hawk as the NFL world awaits his next steps.
