“Speaking of golf, actually, yesterday was a fun day on the course. It was [Alexander] Zverev, [Carlos] Alcaraz, and myself playing some golf. It was my first time playing with these guys, and it was fun. It was a lot of laughter, a lot of mind games, but it was great. I’m okay. I’m behind these guys. I don’t play as much as I used to, and you know, practice makes perfect. That’s my excuse,” Djokovic said.
Djokovic said he isn’t as skilled at golf as he would like to be because he doesn’t play often. He mentioned that both Alcaraz and Zverev are “pretty good” at golf, praising the Spaniard for possessing “raw power” in his game. He said it was nice to spend time off the court with both players.
“But the guys are pretty good. Alcaraz shows up first hole, the guy rips 300 yards, par 5, is going for his eagle, I’m like, ‘Is there anything you’re not good at man? Like what’s going on here?’ It’s raw power, and he loves his golf. Sascha does too. So it was great to spend some time with these guys. Obviously, we’re all big rivals, but it’s also nice that we get along well and we can play out these sports and spend some good time off the court,” he added.
Looking ahead, Djokovic is set to face defending champion and No.14 seed Jack Draper in the fourth round of the 2026 Indian Wells Masters. The winner of this match will advance to face either the No.11 seed Daniil Medvedev or Alex Michelsen in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz, the top seed, will compete against No.13 seed Casper Ruud in the fourth round. The winner of their match will move on to the quarterfinals to face either No.27 seed Cameron Norrie or qualifier Rinky Hijikata. Zverev, seeded fourth, is scheduled to take on No.21 seed Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round.
The winner of that match will advance to face either ninth seed Félix Auger-Aliassime or the No.30 seed Arthur Fils in the quarterfinals.
