Following news that the event was moved to Los Angeles, where the 2028 Summer Olympics will be held, USA Football issued a bold challenge, hoping to get involved in the tournament as it would serve as a warm-up to the Olympic Games, where Flag Football will be played.

“@TomBrady if this is official, we want in! Team USA Football is ready, let’s see who really runs football.” USA Football said on X.

The message quickly drew a response from Brady, who embraced the competitive tone. Responding to the challenge, Brady made it clear he’s fully committed to the upcoming showdown.

“I like the sound of that @usafootball — DM me and we’ll get it set up. Just know there’s no turning back,” Brady responded with on X.

Despite the venue shift from Saudi Arabia to BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, the event itself remains one of the most ambitious flag football showcases ever assembled. Brady, who headlines the event, is expected to compete alongside a star-studded lineup full of current and former NFL superstars.

Brady and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels are expected to lead two of the teams, while other participants include Christian McCaffrey, CeeDee Lamb, Rob Gronkowski, Saquon Barkley, Brock Bowers, Myles Garrett, Sauce Gardner, Odell Beckham Jr., Tyreek Hill, and Maxx Crosby.

Coaching talent is also expected to be high-profile, with Pete Carroll, Sean Payton, and Kyle Shanahan previously announced as part of the event, while comedian Kevin Hart will host.

The format will feature a three-team round-robin tournament coached by several prominent NFL figures, highlighting the league’s increasing interest in the sport as it prepares for flag football’s Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

The sport will also be played at BMO Stadium during the Olympics, giving players the chance to showcase it further while becoming familiar with the field of play. It only makes perfect sense as to why USA Football would like to enter a team of its own in the tournament.

Brady’s enthusiastic response to USA Football’s challenge underscores how seriously he’s taking the event. Even after retiring from the NFL following a 23-season career, the seven-time Super Bowl champion appears eager to step back onto the field, albeit in a different format.

With elite athletes, celebrity involvement, and Olympic implications all tied to the event, the Fanatics Flag Football Classic is shaping up to be more than just an exhibition.

If Brady’s message is any indication, the competitors are ready to embrace the challenge head-on, while Team USA sets out to prove the skill of its flag football players on the big stage.
