It is a sight to witness when two of the biggest athletes from different disciplines interact with each other, showing love and support. Something very similar happened on Saturday, Feb. 21, when the tennis legend Rafael Nadal shared an Instagram post. After spending more than two decades of his life on the tennis courts, he is now enjoying life with his family and friends.
Seeing a tennis legend on a skiing court brought joy to the global sports community, with the skiing legend Lindsey Vonn reacting to this special moment.
Lindsey Vonn’s Reaction to Rafael Nadal’s Trip to Baqueira Beret
To everyone’s surprise, the Spaniard shared an image of himself from Baqueira Beret, which is a large-scale ski resort in the Val d’Aran of the Spanish Pyrenees.
Since retiring in late 2024, Nadal has been spending time with his family, enjoying life with his friends, and pursuing his hobbies by picking up other sports than tennis. He is still very fit physically and underwent right-hand surgery in Dec. 2025 due to a long-time issue from playing on such an elite level for so long.
He didn’t miss this opportunity at all as he shared an image of himself and wrote that he won’t be able to participate in the 2026 Australian Open.
Later, he was present in Melbourne during the championship match between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, witnessing history in person. Now, the King of Clay has again shifted his focus away from the tennis courts, pursuing something he hadn’t done in over 26 years – skiing.
Nadal shared a picture of himself, smiling ear to ear, from Baqueira Beret, with a scenic snowy view in the background, wearing proper skiing gear. This Instagram post immediately went viral among the tennis community and also created buzz in the skiing community.

Seeing the tennis legend step foot on a ski course, an alpine skiing legend had to step in for a lighthearted interaction. Vonn, the American skier, instantly liked Nadal’s post and dropped a comment, writing, “Si!!! Me encanta Baquiera!!” which translates to, “Yes!!! I love Baquiera!!”
Vonn expressed her feelings on the Spanish skiing resort, which is the largest in the country, located near the French border. It features approximately 160-170km of marked circuits, with the skiing area situated at an elevation of roughly 1,500-2,500 m above sea level, providing excellent snow conditions and long runs.

This sweet inter-sport moment between the two absolute legends caught the attention of the entire sports community. However, this isn’t something new; it follows a pattern of tennis stars, including Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka, who have consistently supported Vonn and other Olympians during their preparation periods and the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Vonn entered the Milan-Cortina games with one of the most compelling stories, returning to Olympic competition at 41. She came out of retirement after undergoing a knee replacement surgery and had declared that this would be her fifth and final Olympic appearance. Vonn became the oldest Alpine skier ever to win a World Cup race after her downhill victory in St. Moritz, just days before coming to Italy.
However, her campaign took a tragic turn when she crashed into a gate just seconds into her downhill run, fracturing her left leg and worsening her pre-Games ACL tear.
The American is one of Alpine skiing’s most decorated athletes, having three Olympic medals despite constantly suffering from injuries. The entire world is praying and sending their warm wishes to the skiing legend, hoping for a speedy recovery.
