Isaiah World was a standout left tackle at Oregon and Nevada, earning him recognition in both the Mountain West and Big Ten conferences. NFL scouts and draft experts consider him a potential Day 2 selection in the upcoming draft. Still, an injury to his left knee requiring surgery could jeopardize his choice for the annual event.
Oregon OT Isaiah World Sustains a Torn ACL on His Left Knee
World suffered a torn left ACL in the first half of the Ducks’ 56-22 loss to Indiana at the Peach Bowl last month, which forced him to miss the second half of the College Football Playoff semifinal game.
The injury required surgery, which he underwent earlier this month, forcing him to miss the combine. However, the 6-foot-8 offensive lineman would still participate in medical rechecks, 30 visits with NFL clubs, and formal interviews as part of the draft process.

This past season, World posted an OL Impact Score of 78.6, ranking 246th among qualified offensive linemen. In 15 games, the San Diego native posted an offensive efficiency rating of 84.6 over 815 snaps. He posted a pass-blocking score of 57.6 and a run-blocking score of 35.7, but was whistled for 14 penalties.

NFL scouting projections describe World as a high-character player who needs to improve his technique to be consistent. He has the size and length to stand out as a tackle despite limitations, including holes in his pass protection. The Oregon OT is projected as an average swing tackle if he addresses his form issues.
However, World’s inconsistency was seen against the Big Ten competition last season. Penn State and Indiana took advantage of his weaknesses in footwork and recovery, oversetting, and fluidity, which affected his timing on combo blocks.
The injury could affect expectations surrounding him and could sideline him for much of training camp and the start of his rookie NFL season if he is drafted and signed by a team in the coming months.
His recovery timeline and subsequent medical evaluations will play a vital role in his draft position in April. World was initially invited as one of the 319 prospects to the combine, and the injury has made him a mid-to-late Day 3 candidate.
Various teams could hold him down in the draft, as his stock is expected to plummet due to the announcement. However, teams would rely on the medical rechecks World should undertake during the pre-draft process to give them a clue about his health status and potential landing spot if a team would use the pick on him.
