The allegations surrounding the Kevin Durant burner account continue to gather steam. This comes on the back of an alleged burner linked to the Houston Rockets superstar.
Since then, the two-time NBA champion has been the talk of the league ahead of the season’s restart following the 2026 NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.

NBA Analyst Drops Major Take On Kevin Durant’s Burner Account Rumors
Speaking on ‘The Bill Simmons Podcast,’ Bill Simmons weighed in on the rumor mills churning about Kevin Durant’s burner accounts.
“There is a burner account that’s allegedly tied to KD,” Simmons said. “I thought it was a Twitter account? But it’s an account, and it’s allegedly him, and it’s a lot of signs that it’s him. I assume there’s probably some smoke with the fire on this one.”
“If this is all true, and he’s talking about guys that he plays with right now, I don’t know if we’ve ever been in a situation like this.” He further added, “a social media scandal revealed tweets/text of somebody disparaging people on his team that he then has to go play with tomorrow night.”
Simmons’ two cents speak to how Durant’s actions (if the allegations are proved true) would undermine his trust and chemistry with his teammates. The alleged criticism could have major ramifications and derail the locker room stability.
Per reports, the screenshots obtained from the burner allegedly linked to Durant see criticism of the likes of Russell Westbrook, Devin Booker, Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr, Alperen Sengun, and Jabari Smith Jr.
Coming to the 16-time NBA All-Star’s defense was Klutch Sports head honcho and power agent Rich Paul. “I don’t know that to be true,” he said. “These guys always have to be ‘on.’ They never get an opportunity to just be themselves.”
While the controversy puts Durant in bad press, the forward has been solid for Houston on the season front. In his 50 games so far for his new side, he averages 25.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 50.6% from the field and 40.3% from the three-point line.
The Rockets are also one of the teams expected to make the playoffs this season with a 33-20 record. They are fourth in a stacked Western Conference. While Houston looks primed for take-off, much of how deep they go in the playoffs depends on Durant’s health.
With the veteran logging an estimated 36.7 minutes per game this season and among the players in the top half of minutes played, the onus will be on reducing his workload to keep him fresh and healthy for the postseason.
Durant and the Rockets resume their regular-season action with a two-game away trip. They play the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday (Feb. 19) and later play the in-form New York Knicks on Saturday (Feb. 21) before returning home for a two-game homestand.
