Macklin Celebrini is entering a key stage in his career as he prepares for the 2026 Winter Olympics with Team Canada. The San Jose Sharks center joined practice on a line with Connor McDavid and Tom Wilson, combining skill, youth, and size to create a first line that can handle both offense and defense.
Fans are closely watching as the national team’s lineup takes shape before they start their journey through the preliminary round. Currently, the trio are developing chemistry and adapting to each other on the ice before they play their first game on Feb. 12 against Team Czechia.
Sharks’ Macklin Celebrini To Line Up With Connor McDavid and Tom Wilson for Team Canada at Winter Olympics
Celebrini, who has done amazing this NHL season, is now taking the wing alongside McDavid. He has scored 28 goals and 53 assists for 81 points, but his offense has not dipped his defensive numbers, as he has a positive 10-plus-minus rating. He will be adding his youth to complement the Oilers captain’s playmaking.
Talking to TSN reporter Mark Masters, Celebrini said, “Playing with a guy like that, he’s just, I mean, you can’t really put into words the kind of player he is. It’s going to be fun.”
McDavid also praised Celebrini, saying, “Just impressed with how he handles everything.”
Wilson, who completes the line on the right wing, highlighted the talent on the ice. “Obviously, two of the best players in the world,” Wilson said.
“A lot of skill. A lot of IQ. A lot of speed. Get them the puck, it’ll be in good hands, and get to the net. I think pretty much everyone out there was acclimating to each other, getting used to each other, and leaning on each other. The first day is always fun. It’s going to be exciting to build on it.”
Wilson added that his main focus is helping the team, no matter his role. “For me, it doesn’t matter where I am. I’m going to try to play my game, do my thing, and I’ll do whatever it takes for this country. If I’m playing with Connor, I’ll try to help him in any way I can and help this team win. Doesn’t matter what role it is for me, I’m going to do my best, I’m going to work hard.”

Celebrini’s experience from Boston University and his play at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, where he worked with Sidney Crosby, give him an advantage in adapting to international play.
Pairing him with McDavid on Canada’s first line gives the team more options on offense while staying responsible on defense. This line could become a key part of Canada’s efforts at the Olympics.
