Seahawks FB Brady Russell Receives Message From Colorado Buffaloes Ahead of Super Bowl 60

The Colorado Buffaloes wished Seattle Seahawks fullback Brady Russell well before he plays in the biggest game of his career.

Brady Russell had a five-year college career with the Colorado Buffaloes before playing for the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL. While in Boulder, he spent his time learning to play outside linebacker and tight end before focusing on the latter in the years that followed. In 49 games with the Buffaloes, he was a vital contributor as a tight end, recording 799 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Three years later, Russell will compete in Super Bowl 60 as a fullback for the Seahawks, and Colorado is thrilled to have its product taking part in the prestigious event, sending him a good luck message a day before the game.

Colorado Buffaloes Send Brady Russell ‘Good Luck’ Message Ahead of Super Bowl 60

A day before the start of Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, Colorado sent a message to their alumnus, extending their wishes to the fullback, who is the lone Buffaloes player competing on the biggest stage of football.

“Showtime! 🏆 Good luck to Brady Russell at Super Bowl LX! @Brady_Russell x #ProBuffs,” the Buffaloes wrote on X.

Before going to the Seahawks, the 6’3″ fullback was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles. He was part of the Eagles’ practice squad after he was waived on Aug. 29, 2023.

Russell played 15 games in his first season with the Seahawks and recorded seven tackles (five solo and two assisted tackles), which improved the following year despite suiting up for 11 games. He recorded 10 tackles (six solo and four assisted) that year while primarily playing tight end.

Russell shifted to fullback when Klint Kubiak was signed as offensive coordinator. He played behind Robbie Ouzts in the fullback depth chart and used his experience as a tight end in run protection as a special teams player.

This year, he put up his best season ever, playing a career-best 17 games, and totaled 14 tackles, 10 of them solo tackles. He had one fumble recovery for three yards in Seattle’s 44-22 win against Arizona on Nov. 9.

In the playoffs, Russell played a pivotal role in helping the Seahawks make Super Bowl 60. In the NFC Divisional Round game against the San Francisco 49ers, the fullback, who was lined up alongside 49ers linebacker Patrick O’Connell, executed a cross block that allowed Rashid Shaheed to score a touchdown in Seattle’s opening play.

The sequence set the tone for Seattle in their 41-6 conquest of San Francisco, leading them to a matchup with the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship, where they also won 31-27.

Russell will serve as a special teams captain for the Seahawks in Super Bowl 60 against the New England Patriots. He also held the role in the NFC Championship Game against the LA Rams.
