Emma Raducanu’s Concerning Statistic Triggers Confused Reaction From Boris Becker

After seeing Emma Raducanu's concerning statistic, six-time Grand Slam Champion Boris Becker drops a blunt and confused reaction.

Emma Raducanu is back in the deep stages of a WTA event, this time at the Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca. The top seed has powered into the semifinals with a commanding run that has reignited debate around her trajectory since winning the US Open.

A social media post breaking down her record at this stage of tournaments caught widespread attention. Boris Becker’s shocking reply to that post has now raised questions about the British No. 1’s performance again.

Boris Becker’s Response to Emma Raducanu’s Concerning Statistics

Raducanu produced a commanding performance in the quarter-finals in Cluj, defeating Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-0, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals. The Briton dominated the opening set, allowing Chwalinska to win just seven points as she delivered a flawless bagel behind aggressive returning and precise first-strike, before closing out a more competitive second set with a key break at 3-3.

The win underlined the control she has shown all week on indoor hard courts and reinforced her status as the clear favourite at this WTA 250 event.

That result confirmed only the fifth tour-level semi-final of Raducanu’s career, a tally that surprised many observers given her profile in the sport.

Seeing the limited deep runs by Raducanu, Becker added another layer to the conversation, replying with a blunt, two-word reply: “That’s it?” to a post that highlighted her result.

Raducanu’s previous appearances at this stage came at the 2021 US Open, the 2022 Korea Open in Seoul, the 2024 Rothesay Open in Nottingham, and the 2025 Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington.

Remarkably, those four deep runs have yielded just one title, the 2021 US Open, which remains her only tour-level trophy and her last final at this level. For a Grand Slam champion and established star, these stats raise several questions, given the expectations following her since New York.

Raducanu’s Run at the Transylvania Open

Raducanu’s route to the semi-finals in Cluj has been as convincing as she has produced multiple dominant wins, showing renewed resilience. She opened her campaign with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Greet Minnen in the first round, dictating play from the baseline and controlling proceedings on serve.

Her most dramatic victory came in the second round against Kaja Juvan, where she was trailing 0-5 in the opening set before staging a remarkable turnaround. Raducanu reeled off 11 games in a row and ultimately closed out a 7-5, 6-1 win, setting the tone for the week.

In the quarterfinal, Raducanu surged through the opening set 6-0, barely giving the Pole any chance as she took control early in rallies. Although Chwalinska responded with better tennis in the second set, the top seed broke decisively at 3-3 and closed out the 6-0, 6-4 win.

In the semi-finals, Raducanu is set to face Oleksandra Oliynykova, who is enjoying a breakthrough of her own in Romania. The Ukrainian reached her first WTA semi-final by upsetting fourth seed Wang Xinyu 6-4, 6-4, saving an extraordinary 20 of 22 break points in the process, and has built momentum with a series of gritty wins.

If Raducanu manages to overcome the Romanian, she will most likely face the third seed, Sorana Cîrstea, in the final.
