Iga Świątek recently shared a motivational message reflecting resilience and courage to Lindsey Vonn, who gave an injury update before the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. The Polish sensation has concluded her first Grand Slam of the season, with a quarterfinal loss to eventual champion Elena Rybakina, and is backing the legendary ski racer, who is still aiming to compete at the Olympics.
Iga Świątek Supports Lindsey Vonn After the Latter’s Injury Update
Świątek entered the Australian Open as the second seed after clinching the United Cup tournament title with Team Poland. She impressively spearheaded her campaign, defeating Anna Kalinskaya, Marie Bouzkova, and others to reach the quarterfinals, where her hopes were crushed by Rybakina, who clinched her first title at Melbourne Park and her second Grand Slam title.
Through her recent Instagram story, the six-time Major champion praised Vonn’s mindset after she revealed that she has ruptured her left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). This injury comes days before the Olympics; however, the three-time Olympic medallist is hopeful and has revealed her chances are not entirely extinguished.
Świątek wrote, “As long as you fight, you are the winner @lindseyvonn 💪🔥”

Vonn, through her Instagram post, recently gave the update, revealing the injury, among other things: “I completely tore my ACL last Friday. I also sustained a bone bruise (which is a common injury when you tear your ACL), plus meniscal tears but it’s unclear how much of that was there previously and what was new from the crash.”
She continued, “This was obviously incredibly hard news to receive one week before the Olympics. I really appreciate everyone giving me time and space to process what happened and find a way forward.”

Vonn, an eight-time World Championship medallist, further shared that after undergoing required tests, she had determined that she can compete for the Olympics, “After extensive consultations with doctors, intense therapy, physical tests as well as skiing today, I have determined I am capable of competing in the Olympic Downhill on Sunday. I am confident in my body’s ability to perform.”
At Melbourne Park, Świątek has reached the semifinals twice in 2022 and 2025, and is yet to win a title. If she wins the Australian Open in her next season, she could complete a Career Grand Slam. She has won four French Opens, one Wimbledon Championship, and one US Open title, with the Australian Open the only Grand Slam trophy not in her cabinet.
