NBA Insider Reveals Bucks Prefer Western Conference Team’s Trade Offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo

NBA insider reveals the Bucks may prefer trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to a Western Conference team as the deadline nears.

The NBA trade landscape has already been shaken by two massive moves. James Harden was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Jaren Jackson Jr. was sent to the Utah Jazz. The February 5 trade deadline is quickly approaching, and league insiders believe more blockbuster deals could be on the way.

Now, an insider suggests that Giannis Antetokounmpo could surprisingly be moved to a Western Conference team.

NBA Insider’s Latest Revelation Regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo

In a recent segment, NBA Insider Jake Fischer revealed that the Milwaukee Bucks might actually be considering sending Antetokounmpo to a Western Conference team, specifically the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Miami Heat.

“At this point, all this momentum it seems like Minnesota does. I’ve heard internally Milwaukee values Minnesota’s potential package and Miami’s potential package over the Warriors,” Fischer said during a recent segment.

Since the 2025 offseason began, Antetokounmpo has been linked almost exclusively to Eastern Conference teams. So the fact that Milwaukee is now apparently preferring a Western Conference team adds a whole new twist to this ongoing trade saga.

If we see just a few months back, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst confirmed that Antetokounmpo actually had conversations with the Bucks organization during the offseason about possibly making a move to New York.

“The Bucks called the Knicks and asked for an offer for Giannis, because Giannis said, ‘I want to be a Knick.’ Then, people were like, ‘Oh my god, he deleted a photo from May where he had a Bucks logo on it.’ Guys, he asked to be traded already,” said Windhorst during an ESPN segment.

More recently, NBA insider Ramona Shelburne also suggested that Antetokounmpo could end up on an Eastern Conference team. She named the Charlotte Hornets as a potential destination.

“I think there are other teams that we have not talked about that would be very surprising that are also making calls (on Giannis Antetokounmpo). I think Charlotte is an interesting team, I’ve heard that name out there…,” Shelburne said during a segment of ESPN’s “Mason and Ireland” show.

If Antetokounmpo were to join the Minnesota Timberwolves, he would help the team with his dominant two-way play. If we see he is averaging around 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game this season on 64.5% field goal shooting. He would simply bring that elite playmaking ability to a squad that’s already built on defense and versatility.

The player who would benefit the most from Antetokounmpo’s arrival is Anthony Edwards. With Antetokounmpo commanding constant defensive attention in the paint, Edwards would face less pressure as a primary scorer.

What ultimately happens remains to be seen. With multiple insiders offering conflicting possibilities and the trade deadline fast approaching the Greek Freak’s future is still uncertain.
