USMNT Transfer Rumors: Premier League Club To Revisit Deal for Striker After Failed $44 Million January Bid

A Premier League club is determined to rope in one USMNT international after the end of the 2025-26 season, according to a report.

Over the last few years, a host of United States men’s national team (USMNT) players have played in the Premier League. And one USMNT man is reportedly set to get another chance to play in the esteemed English top flight this year.

USMNT Star To Be Pursued by English Club in Summer

According to Crunch Sports, Fulham are prepared to renew their interest in USMNT attacker Ricardo Pepi after failing to sign him in the winter transfer window. They were very close to signing the American in a move worth around $44 million last week, but a potential transfer collapsed after PSV Eindhoven failed to find a suitable replacement.

The Cottagers, whose only winter signing was Oscar Bobb from Manchester City, are said to be determined to make Pepi one of their summer signings. They have identified the forward as an apt successor to Mexican striker Raul Jimenez, who is 34 now.

Meanwhile, Pepi is focused on recovering from a forearm fracture sustained in an Eredivisie match last month. The 23-year-old forward has found the back of the opposition net 11 times and recorded two assists in 22 total matches for PSV so far this campaign.

Pepi, who has a contract with PSV until June 2030, started his professional career with FC Dallas in 2019 before joining Bundesliga club FC Augsburg in January 2022. He relished a fine loan spell at Eredivisie outfit FC Groningen during the 2022-23 season, which led to a permanent transfer to PSV for a reported fee of $13 million in the summer of 2023.

On the other hand, USMNT legend Brad Friedel has claimed that AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic could be open to a return to the Premier League in the near future.

“I read a lot of his (earlier) quotes… it seems like he found things at Chelsea tough off the field. When he went to AC Milan, it was a little bit easier off the field. Now, he’s a few years older, more mature again, so maybe he would. Does he have the talent for it? Yeah, he has the talent,” Friedel opined on a potential future Premier League move for Pulisic.

“His contractual package might be tricky for quite a lot of teams in the Premier League now because he’s not on a small amount of money and wouldn’t be asking for a small amount of money. But, I don’t know. He found a place where he is playing incredibly well, so do you move from that? Is the grass always greener? It’s a tough one,” he concluded.

Pulisic, 27, endured a stop-start spell at Chelsea between 2019 and 2023 before securing a move to Serie A side AC Milan, where his contract is set to expire in June 2027.
