James Harbaugh, the son of Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, shared a health update on Tuesday following a recent hospitalization. The update came directly from James in a social media post addressing the medical episode and his recovery.
James Harbaugh Reveals Having a Seizure and Details Recovery Timeline
In an Instagram story, James said he experienced a seizure two weeks ago while hiking in Washington. He described the incident as the first seizure of his life and said it resulted in a two-day hospital stay.
“So first of all, yes, I’m doing much much better now,” James wrote. “As maybe you saw, two weeks ago I had a seizure (for the first time in my life) on a hike here in WA and spent two days in the hospital. It took a while to be fully ‘up to speed’ mentally, but like I said, I’m doing much better now.”
James said the cause of the seizure has not yet been identified. He wrote that he continues to see doctors, including a neurologist, as part of the evaluation process.
“For now, a lot is uncertain,” James wrote. “I still don’t know what caused it. I’ve been seeing doctors and a neurologist, and I really do hope I can get an answer soon.”
As part of his recovery, James said he has been advised not to drive for six months. He also said he has not yet been cleared to return to flying, which affects his work as a Delta Air Lines flight attendant.
“I can’t drive for 6 months, and I don’t know when I’ll get back to flying,” Harbaugh wrote. “I’d prefer that to be as soon as possible, but obviously, I’m taking advice from smarter people and just doing what’s best for my health before I worry about any of that.”
James is one of Jim Harbaugh’s seven children. Jim Harbaugh shares his three oldest children, Jay, James, and Grace, with his first wife, Miah Harbaugh. He later married Sarah Feuerborn Harbaugh, and they have four children together: Addison, Katherine, Jack, and John.
While several members of the Harbaugh family have pursued careers in football, James followed a different path. A University of Michigan graduate, he pursued theater and performing arts before entering the aviation industry. He has remained publicly supportive of his father’s coaching career and has described himself as a Chargers fan on social media.
In his post, Harbaugh emphasized that his focus remains on his health as he continues to follow medical guidance and undergo evaluation.
