NFL World Inevitably Compares Drake Maye to Patriots Legend Tom Brady After Advancing to Super Bowl

Unsurprisingly, Drake Maye has drawn comparisons to the New England Patriots' most iconic superstar, Tom Brady.

It may not have been the prettiest performance, but Drake Maye and the New England Patriots managed to take down the top-seeded Denver Broncos, punching their ticket to the Super Bowl. Despite the narrow 10-7 victory, the potential NFL MVP not only secured a spot in Super Bowl 60 but also found himself at the center of favorable comparisons to one of the greatest to ever do it, Tom Brady.

Drake Maye Sets Social Media On Fire with Tom Brady Super Bowl Comps

It has been a career year for Maye, who finds himself a finalist for the NFL MVP Award. While the individual honor is surely something he wouldn’t mind winning, a chance to capture a Super Bowl title in just his second season would further cement his place in Patriots lore. The fact that Maye is the first New England quarterback since Tom Brady to reach the Super Bowl has naturally sparked a wave of comparisons on social media.

“Second year QB back in the Super Bowl, I don’t think we’ve ever seen that, oh wait… we did when Tom Brady was there,” Tony Romo said on the NFL on CBS broadcast.

Comparing any player to Brady, who won six Super Bowl titles with New England, is a lofty standard. Still, the fact that both quarterbacks reached the championship game in their second seasons is hard to ignore. If Maye secures his first ring, talk of another potential Patriots dynasty will only intensify.

“On the doorstep of a new dynasty?” the NFL posted on social media.

While many of the Maye-Brady comparisons focused on Super Bowl success, others seized the opportunity to take playful shots at the future Hall of Famer. During his storied career, Brady never won a playoff game in Denver, something Maye just accomplished.

“Drake Maye did what Tom Brady couldn’t: Win a playoff game in Denver. Greatness,” DraftKings shared.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy posted: “I don’t want to compare Tom Brady and Drake Maye but this is a crazy stat: Tom Brady 0-3 in the playoffs at Denver. Drake Maye 1-0 in the playoffs at Denver.”

Some noted Maye’s modest 86-yard passing performance in a game largely defined by New England’s defensive dominance.

“Playoff W in the snow carried by his defense, Drake Maye really is Tom Brady 2.0” – OnyxOdds posted.

Win or lose, this will certainly not be the final time the internet talks about the Maye/Brady comparison. Depending on who you ask, they may prefer the latter.
