NFL World Fed Up With Tony Romo As the CBS Broadcaster’s Struggles Continue: ‘Completely Insufferable’

NFL fans made their opinions known while listening to CBS' Tony Romo's commentary during the Patriots-Broncos game on Sunday.

With CBS airing the AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos from Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, that meant the No. 1 NFL broadcast team of Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, and Tracy Wolfson were on hand for the game.

As NFL fans tuned into watch the game on Sunday, though, many of them were just getting more fed up listening to Romo offer his commentary.

NFL Fans Not Happy with CBS’ Tony Romo

The Broncos and Patriots were tied 7-7 with two minutes left in the first half, but Romo’s thoughts on the game were not sitting well with fans one bit.

Ron Stewart was tuning into the game and was immediately asking CBS to make a change in the booth. Stewart posted on X, “Give me JJ Watt over Tony Romo on the CBS broadcasts plz”.

Rob Reischel, who has written eight books on the Green Bay Packers and is sports editor at News Publishing Co., pointed out that Romo doesn’t really add much to the CBS broadcast. Reischel posted on X, “Tony Romo adds next to nothing to a broadcast. They should just let Jim Nantz ride solo. Thank God @NFLonCBS doesn’t have the Super Bowl!!!!”

Andrew Cunneen, who writes about the NFL as a reporter and columnist, posted on X, “The decline of Tony Romo has been unbelievably jarring. Not sure he’d even be watching this game if he wasn’t in the booth.”

Sam Read, a multi-media journalist and weekend anchor for NBC 10 WJAR in New England, also had some thoughts on Romo’s effort on Sunday: “Tony Romo… simmer down.”

Evan Altman, who is editor in chief of Cubs Insider, critiqued some of Romo’s thoughts on Broncos starting quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who is starting in place of the injured Bo Nix. Altman posted on X, “Romo saying Stidham is more athletic than people give him credit for ignores how he was the top-ranked dual-threat QB in his HS class.”

While these fans are going to have to put up with Romo in the booth on Sunday, the former NFL quarterback who played with the Dallas Cowboys probably will get more heat. And it’s not the type of heat that will keep him warm on a cold day at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, either.
