Former Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton officially entered the transfer portal last Thursday. The move disappointed many Buffaloes fans who admired his loyalty and on-field ability to the program.
Seaton had been the top available uncommitted transfer, but his recruitment quickly came to an end when he announced his commitment to LSU and head coach Lane Kiffin out of the NCAA Transfer Portal on Friday.
Lane Kiffin Reacts to Jordan Seaton’s Commitment to LSU
Before Seaton chose LSU over interest from Texas, Miami, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Oregon, he tweeted his commitment announcement to come in a few minutes. Kiffin hinted at Seaton’s commitment to LSU by retweeting the offensive tackle’s tweet with a telling emoji.
Seaton later made his decision official on Instagram.
“To Coach Kiffin, LSU and State Of Louisiana Thank You For an Opportunity to chase Greatness – The Franchise,” Seaton wrote in the caption of his post.
Nicknamed “The Franchise,” Seaton hails from Washington, D.C., but played his high school football at IMG Academy in Florida. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders landed him as the nation’s No. 1 offensive line recruit in the 2024 class.
Seaton made an immediate impact at Colorado, starting all 13 games as a freshman and earning an All-Big 12 honorable mention. He was named to the All-Big 12 second team in the 2025 season after allowing just one sack, zero quarterback hits, and five pressures in nine games before missing the final three games with a knee injury. He also became a fan favorite in Boulder, winning the 28th annual Buffalo Heart Award, which is voted on by fans.
Seaton visited Baton Rouge this past weekend and shared a photo from inside Tiger Stadium alongside Kiffin and Kiffin’s nephew “Cookie” on his Instagram, via Louisiana Sports’ Matt Moscona. Seaton had already been trending toward LSU following his extended stay in Baton Rouge, but a visit from Oregon head coach Dan Lanning briefly introduced uncertainty. However, Seaton ultimately chose to join Kiffin’s Tigers.
Seaton will enter his junior season at LSU with two years of remaining college eligibility in Baton Rouge. However, he is expected to declare for the NFL Draft following the 2026 season. A Florida booster previously claimed his representatives were seeking a starting point of $2.5 million in NIL negotiations, but it remains unclear what his NIL compensation will be at LSU. He carries a 76.9 grade in the PFSN’s CFB Player OL Impact Metric.
With Seaton’s addition, Kiffin has assembled an impressive collection of elite talent at LSU. For the 2026 season, the roster will feature nine players who were once ranked as the No. 1 player nationally in their respective classes.
Those players include quarterback Sam Leavitt, Princewill Umanmielen, offensive tackle Seaton, athlete Lamar Brown, defensive tackle Richard Anderson, DJ Pickett, running back Harlem Berry, edge rusher Jordan Ross, and tight end Trey’Dez Green.
Seaton will be tasked with protecting Leavitt, similar to the role he played in 2024 for Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders and in 2025 for three Colorado quarterbacks, including five-star Julian Lewis. After LSU struggled this past season with pass protection and opening up running lanes, Seaton’s arrival is definitely a major boost for the Tigers’ offensive line.
