It’s not too often you see a college quarterback play for more than three teams during their college tenure. Last season, Jaden Rashada played a limited season for the Sacramento State Hornets before entering the transfer portal this offseason. To say the least, Rashada’s college career has been a whirlwind.
At one time, the $13 million quarterback was a hot commodity coming out of high school, but now finds himself committing to his sixth program.
Jaden Rashada Finds His Sixth Program In College
Initially, Rashada committed to play for the Miami Hurricanes straight out of high school, but he signed a letter of intent to play for the Florida Gators. He would never play for the Gators; instead, he later sued the program over a NIL deal worth $13 million. It was not the ideal start to any freshman entering their college career. This was only the beginning, as things haven’t really gotten any better since.
His journey would lead him to play his freshman season with the Arizona State Sun Devils back in 2023. He started three games before suffering a season-ending knee injury, which derailed his season and ultimately his career at ASU. In those three games, he completed 44 of his 82 pass attempts for 485 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. He went from there to Georgia, only to not see the field, and most recently to Sacramento State.
As of Friday morning, Rashada has found his sixth program, committing to play for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. At 6’4, 185 pounds, he has great size for a quarterback and has the potential to throw the football. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to showcase his abilities thus far in his college career.
A once three-star recruit out of Pittsburg High School in Pittsburgh, California, Rashada had offers from LSU, Florida, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Arizona State as his finalists. He threw for 5,275 yards and 59 touchdowns in his high school career in a competitive area. Before that, he spent a brief period at IMG Academy in Florida, one of the nation’s top high school programs. Rashada has all of the potential in the world; he just needs to find the right fit.
Rashada will enter his junior season at Mississippi State next year and has already committed to six programs. He’s also the second quarterback that Mississippi State has signed in the portal this offseason. This now gives the Bulldogs four returning scholarship quarterbacks, including starter Kamario Taylor. Likely, this means Rashada will be in a backup role once again.
