Real Madrid Forward Says He Wants to Beat Cristiano Ronaldo at 2026 World Cup as He Opens up on Wish

Real Madrid star hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as his idol but makes bold claim about facing the Portuguese superstar at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Endrick remains a Real Madrid player for the foreseeable future, but the Brazilian has joined Lyon for the rest of the season. He wanted to boost his chances of playing at the FIFA World Cup, and has now made an interesting comment about facing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid Forward Dreaming of Beating Cristiano Ronaldo at the FIFA World Cup

Endrick is enjoying his time at Lyon, scoring three goals in just two Ligue 1 matches since joining the French side on loan during this window. The teenager has started the two matches, already more than the number of starts he got at Real Madrid this season.

The Brazilian was speaking to L’Equipe this week about the FIFA World Cup this summer. He revealed that he had a conversation with Carlo Ancelotti before moving to France, and that the national team coach had given him some key advice.

The topic soon switched to Ronaldo, and the Brazilian was quick to admit that the Real Madrid legend was his idol. He claimed that the forward’s approach to the game at 40 inspires him to do better and hopes that the Al-Nassr captain continues to play for a few more seasons.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is my number 1 idol. What I admire most is that at 40 years old, he remains the one who works harder than everyone else. He’s close to retirement, but he’s still capable of playing for many more years. I hope he does.”

Endrick admitted that his loan move to Lyon was mainly to secure a spot in the national team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. He wants to be in Ancelotti’s squad, and when quizzed about the possibility of facing Ronaldo at the tournament, he was quick to admit that he hopes it happens. However, he has no plans to let his idol get the win and wants Brazil to come out victorious.

“Playing against Cristiano Ronaldo in the World Cup? Ah, that would be wonderful. I hope it happens and that we win it (smiles).”

Ronaldo played a key role in Portugal’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers and has confirmed he will play at the tournament this summer. Meanwhile, Endrick played just 4 matches in the qualifiers in 2024 and failed to score in any of them.
