The New England Patriots and Denver Broncos will play Sunday afternoon in the AFC Championship. The Broncos are the home team, hosting the Patriots with a shot at the Super Bowl on the line. Let’s take a look at who is announcing the game for CBS.
Who Are the Announcers for Patriots-Broncos on CBS?
With Jim Nantz and Tony Romo calling the action from the booth, CBS will use its lead broadcast crew for the conference championship. Nantz and Romo are nearing a decade of calling the network’s top games.
Nantz will handle play-by-play duties. He has served as CBS’ top NFL announcer for more than a decade and has been on the call for numerous conference championship games and Super Bowls during that time. His voice has been a constant on championship weekend. Before stepping away from calling golf and basketball, he starred on CBS’ coverage of the Masters and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Romo will work alongside Nantz as the game analyst. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback joined CBS in 2017 and has remained part of the network’s lead booth since his debut season. His analysis has been criticized lately, but Romo has another chance in a game millions will watch.
Both teams enter the AFC Championship coming off playoff wins. The Broncos will start backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham after second-year quarterback Bo Nix broke his ankle in the divisional win against the Bills. New England features MVP candidate Drake Maye under center.
Sideline reporting will be handled by veteran reporters Tracy Wolfson and Evan Washburn. Wolfson has been part of CBS’ NFL coverage for more than a decade and regularly works the network’s biggest games. Washburn contributes across CBS’ NFL and college football coverage and will provide additional updates from the field throughout the afternoon as well.
For radio listeners, Westwood One will carry the AFC Championship Game nationally. Ryan Radtke will call play-by-play, with former NFL lineman Mike Golic serving as the analyst. Laura Okmin will report from the sidelines as part of the radio broadcast team.
CBS’ top television crew and Westwood One’s radio team will be in place for the AFC title game as New England and Denver compete for a spot in the Super Bowl. Though both teams are young, the brands of the Patriots and Broncos should bode well for viewership.
It’ll be all ears and eyes on Nantz and Romo. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
