Connor McDavid’s Wife Lauren Highlights Oilers Star Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ Milestone Achievement

Connor McDavid’s wife, Lauren, celebrates Ryan Nugent-Hopkins reaching 1,000 NHL games as the Oilers prepare for their next matchup.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins continues to be an important part of another demanding season for the Edmonton Oilers. The team sits near the top of the Pacific Division after back-to-back shutout wins, showing improved goaltending.

While Connor McDavid leads the offense, Nugent-Hopkins remains a core piece with his calm and reliable play. One recent game showed how much his long-term role still matters in Edmonton.

Connor McDavid’s Wife Lauren Celebrates Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ 1,000th NHL Game Milestone

Nugent-Hopkins reached a major career milestone when he played his 1,000th NHL game in a 5-0 win over the St. Louis Blues at Rogers Place. The night became even more meaningful when he scored a power-play goal early in the first period. The goal ended his 11-game goal drought and gave the home crowd a reason to react early. Nugent-Hopkins has spent his entire NHL career in Edmonton, and the moment reflected his years of consistent work in the blue and orange jersey.

Off the ice, Connor McDavid’s wife, Lauren, celebrated the moment by sharing a photo of the jumbotron showing Nugent-Hopkins during the game. Along with the image, she wrote, “1000 for the NGH @brenugenthopkins congratulations!!!” The post matched how the Oilers handled the night on home ice. The focus stayed on respect and appreciation for a longtime teammate.

After the game, Nugent-Hopkins spoke about what the milestone meant to him and the journey that came with it. “I think if you can get to this point in your career, play 1,000 games in this league, things have to go right for you and you have to stick with a lot of it, and I’m very proud to be able to have done it,” he said.

He also reflected on entering the league as a first overall pick, adding, “I’m just who I am, and I can’t control the outside things, and I’m going to be the player that I’m going to be and try to be the best version of myself.”

At 32, Nugent-Hopkins remains a trusted part of Edmonton’s core. He plays a reliable two-way role, supports special teams, and continues to add offense with smart decisions rather than speed. His 40 points in 41 games this season show he remains effective in meaningful minutes.

As the Oilers push toward bigger goals with McDavid leading the group, Nugent-Hopkins is playing the role of second-line center in Leon Draisaitl’s absence. His value shows how he has grown with one franchise and has contributed year after year.

The Oilers will return to action on Jan. 20, hosting the New Jersey Devils at Rogers Place. Edmonton enters the game with a 25-17-8 record, while New Jersey comes in at 24-22-2. The puck drop is set for 10 p.m. ET. The matchup offers another chance for Edmonton to build momentum as the season moves forward.
