Taylor Fritz and Morgan Riddle Reveal Their Repentance for Being Absent From One Point Slam

The highly anticipated Million Dollar One Point Slam is held days before the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, and featured 48 competitors, including top WTA and ATP stars, competing against amateur players at the Rod Laver Arena for the prize of AUD$1 million ($6,67,855 US).

Elites like Alcaraz, Sinner, Gauff, and ÅšwiÄ…tek were joined by Alexander Zverev, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Lorenzo Musetti, Alexander Bublik, Daniil Medvedev, Tommy Paul, Elena Rybakina, Jasmine Paolini, Belinda Bencic, Naomi Osaka, and Paula Badosa, who were set to duel against eight amateur state champions and others in a one-point format with a game of ‘rock, paper, scissors’ to decide who will serve.

Fritz, who skipped the tournament, has recently shared his regret through his X post, adding, “Now that I’m actually watching it on TV, massive L from me to not be playing the one point slam, this looks like so much fun 😂.”

Through her Instagram story, the famed internet personality also shared her thoughts on remaining absent from the event, expressing, “fomo :(.” Through her post, she shared a video where Australian icon Rennae Stubbs mentioned, while covering the fun event with Fritz’s X post featuring on the screen, “Take time watching at home. Taylor, next year, get your butt out here.”

The winner, after taking each point, progressed, with the event being clinched by amateur player Jordan Smith from Sydney, who defeated five professional players en route, including world No. 2 and two-time Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner.

The tournament director, Craig Tiley, also highlighted the uniqueness of the event: “Having stars like Iga Swiatek, Jannik Sinner, and Coco Gauff committed to play, alongside everyday Australians qualifying through state championships, captures exactly what this event is about, bringing people together through tennis in an exciting and inclusive way.”

The inaugural edition of the One Point Slam was held in 2025, featuring prize money lower than the current amount and the absence of many elites. This year’s exhibition tournament was rejuvenated and delivered a memorable experience.
