Apple TV Announces a Deep Dive Into Andre Agassi’s Rise, Struggles, and Success

The project, announced by Apple TV, will explore the whole arc of Agassi’s life, from his rise as a teenage prodigy to his evolution into one of the most accomplished players in men’s tennis history.

Now 55, Agassi remains one of the sport’s most recognizable figures, not only for his achievements on court but also for his openness about the pressures, contradictions, and personal struggles that shaped his career.

That honesty first resonated deeply with fans in 2009, when he released his memoir Open: An Autobiography, and the upcoming series is expected to build on that foundation with a visual, long-form retelling.

The docuseries will be directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Chris Smith, best known in the sports and entertainment world for his work as an executive producer on Netflix’s breakout hit Tiger King. The project is being produced by Smith’s company, Library Films, with Stacy Smith and former ATP professional Justin Gimelstob also serving as executive producers.

Agassi’s resume offers no shortage of material. He captured eight Grand Slam singles titles, completed a career Grand Slam by winning all four Majors, earned Olympic gold at the 1996 Atlanta Games, and spent 101 weeks ranked World No. 1.

He finished his career with 60 ATP singles titles before retiring after the 2006 US Open. Since then, Agassi has shifted much of his focus toward philanthropy, youth education initiatives, and his growing involvement in pickleball.

How Did Jaden, Jaz, and Parker Aquino Support the Project’s Announcement?

Following the announcement, Agassi’s inner circle helped circulate the news. Jaden reshared the announcement on his Instagram Stories, as did his sister Jaz. Jaz’s boyfriend, Aquino, also posted about the project, showcasing the family’s collective pride in the moment.

Jaden, born in 2001, pursued baseball rather than following his father onto the court, while Jaz, born in 2003, has gravitated toward creative and athletic outlets such as dance, horseback riding, snowboarding, and pickleball.

Aquino, a former college baseball pitcher who played at the College of Southern Nevada before finishing his degree at the University of Nevada, has since transitioned into the business side of entertainment, working with management firm Milk & Honey.
