Amanda Anisimova and Coco Gauff kicked off their 2026 tennis season in Australia. The World No. 3 participated in the Brisbane International, while Gauff is representing the United States at the United Cup.
Amanda Anisimova and Coco Gauff Enjoy Their Off Day in Australia
The two American tennis stars took some time off to enjoy the country. Gauff was seen exploring Sydney, while Anisimova enjoyed a swimming outing with Priscilla Hon in Brisbane.
At the 2026 United Cup, Team USA is defending its title, having won the championship last year by defeating Team Poland in the final. This year, the American team has reached the semifinals, where they will face Poland.
Team USA advanced to the final four by defeating Argentina and Spain 2-1 in the group stage. They progressed to the semifinals after eliminating Greece 2-1 in the quarterfinals. In the upcoming tie against Poland, Gauff will take on Iga Świątek in a singles match.
Gauff and Świątek have met 15 times on the WTA Tour, with the Pole winning 11 of those encounters. Their most recent matchup was in the semifinals of the 2025 Madrid Open, where Gauff secured the victory. They also faced each other at the 2025 United Cup, where Gauff again emerged victorious.
Before the semifinals against Team Poland, Gauff spent an off day visiting the Sydney Opera House. She shared a selfie on social media, posing in front of the iconic performing arts center.

Meanwhile, Anisimova started her 2026 season at the Brisbane International, where she concluded her campaign after losing in the third round. Following her match, she spent time with Hon in Brisbane.
The World No. 3 took to social media and posted a picture of herself from the WTA 500 tournament, expressing that she was glad to be back competing and looking forward to the upcoming Australian Open.
“Thank you Brisbane! So good to be back, and so excited to be competing again 😄 😄 looking forward to AO next 🤩 see you there!” Anisimova captioned her Instagram story.

Hon also took to social media, sharing a carousel of pictures from their day off in Brisbane at TotalFusion Platinum Newstead. The photo dump included pictures of how the two players spent time at the luxury health and wellness club.

The Aussie also shared a picture of Anisimova playfully holding out playing cards towards her during their leisurely afternoon.
“Bonding cards anyone? 🤣,” Anisimova captioned her Instagram story.
Reacting to Hon’s photo-dump, Anisimova commented that spending time in that manner was the positive “vibe” she needed.
“CUTIE,” Anisimova commented.
“The vibes I needed 😍,” she added.

At the Brisbane International, Anisimova, seeded second, began her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. She won her opening match against Kimberly Birrell but was defeated by Marta Kostyuk in the third round.

Looking ahead, after concluding their campaigns at the Brisbane International and the United Cup, Anisimova and Gauff are set to compete next at the Australian Open. The Grand Slam tournament will take place from January 12 to February 1, 2026, at Melbourne Park, with the main draw matches starting on January 18.
