Julian Lewis on Alert As Deion Sanders Lands 1,510-YD Transfer Portal QB

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Julian Lewis has been put on alert after the Buffaloes landed a new quarterback in the transfer portal.

Quarterback Julian Lewis took over for Kaidon Salter as the starter against West Virginia earlier in the year. After throwing for 299 yards and registering two touchdowns in his first start, Lewis was benched in order to preserve his redshirt eligibility ahead of 2026.

Meanwhile, Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes have had a successful start to the transfer portal window, landing over 20 players, including Miami (Ohio) wide receiver Kam Perry. Colorado finished the season with a 3-9 record last year.

Julian Lewis on Alert As Colorado Lands 1,510-Yard Brother Of NFL Star.

Following their successful start to the transfer portal, Colorado has continued on the recruitment trail, according to a recent report. According to ON3 Sports, Colorado looks set to secure the commitment of Utah transfer Isaac Wilson in the transfer portal.

“Utah transfer quarterback Isaac Wilson has committed to Colorado, On3’s Pete Nakos reports. He is the brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Zach Wilson,” revealed the report. A four-star prospect, Wilson threw for 1,510 yards during the 2024 season.

Wilson started seven games for the Utah Utes in 2024. He passed for 1,510 yards and 10 touchdowns with 11 interceptions across nine total games. However, he was usurped by Devon Dampier for the 2025 season, making only one appearance.

After appearing in four games last year before being sat out to preserve his redshirt eligibility, Julian Lewis finished the season ranked 179th in PFSN’s QB Impact Ranking. With an impact ranking of 64.1, he finished the season with 589 passing yards and four touchdowns.

“That’s my decision. I want what’s best for the kid, what’s best for his family, what’s best for this wonderful university. I’m not going to say Julian Lewis was happy, because he’s a competitor,” Sanders explained his decision to sit the quarterback.

Meanwhile, Salter, who was one of the top prospects in the 2024 transfer portal, recently announced his decision to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. The Colorado quarterback finished the season ranked 81st nationally with an impact grade of 78.0.

“With faith in God’s plan and confidence in the work I’ve put in, I am officially declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft. I welcome the opportunity to continue to grow and learn at the next level. All glory to god, the journey continues.” Salter stated in his message.

After Salter’s declaration, the Colorado quarterback room looks set to be a competition to keep an eye on. After Sanders announced his intent to return to the Buffaloes next year, they will look to improve on their 2025 record with their recent transfer portal additions.

“Getting out is what it’s gonna be. I don’t think it’s a motivation, it’s a part of life. This is what it’s gonna be. This fanbase, this school, and everybody deserve much better than this. They expected much better than this.” Sanders stated at the end of last year.

After landing Perry, Colorado also continued their transfer portal hot streak with the addition of James Maddison and cornerback Justin Eaglin. The corner finished the season with five interceptions, 13 passes defended, and 35 tackles after appearing in all 14 games in 2025.
