Who Are Trinidad Chambliss’ Parents? All About His Family, Ethnicity, High School and More

As Trinidad Chambliss is leading Ole Miss to the national championship, let's know about his family, ethnicity, high school and more.

Trinidad Chambliss was a multi-sport athlete growing up, as he competed in baseball, basketball, and football. He started his college football journey at Division II Ferris State, where his promising play earned him a spot as a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist.

Chambliss’ rise continued when he transferred to Ole Miss, where the PFSN College Football QB Impact Metric’s No. 5-ranked player took over as the Rebels’ starting quarterback. In the 2025 season, he guided Ole Miss to College Football Playoff victories against Tulane and Georgia.

Who are Trinidad Chambliss’ Parents?

Chambliss is the son of Trent Chambliss, a native of South Bend, Indiana. Trent played offensive line at Grand Rapids Junior College in Michigan and later at Central State University in Ohio, according to the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal. He now serves as an assistant principal at Wyoming High School and previously coached football at Forest Hills Northern.

From Chambliss’ days as a zero-star recruit and backup quarterback at Division II Ferris State to his rise at Ole Miss, Trent has been a constant and passionate supporter.

“He was catching a ball before he could walk,” Trent told ESPN in October. “I just threw everything at him — socks, keys, whatever. The kid caught everything.”

As Chambliss helps lead Ole Miss in its push for a national championship this season, Trent is soaking in the moment as a proud father.

“We’ve been waiting a long time for him to play free and have fun,” Trent told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday. “He’s had an amazing season, but we haven’t seen the best of him until that game. Western Michigan knows that Trinidad. Ferris State knows that Trinidad. Everybody’s been waiting for that to happen. It was cool for him to finally reach a level of comfort.”

Chambliss’ mother, Cheryl, was born in New Jersey and competed in volleyball and basketball while growing up in Michigan. She spent three decades working as a juvenile probation officer and is now a substitute teacher in retirement.

During Chambliss’s career at Ferris State, he made it a tradition to walk to the fence during pregame warmups to pray with Cheryl.

“It’s been surreal, and it’s been amazing and we just feel it’s such a blessing,” Cheryl told the Clarion Ledger in October. “It’s been really great for people to see what we already knew about our son, that he has talent, that he has ability to lead.”

How Many Siblings Does Chambliss Have?

Chambliss has an older brother, Tyle, who also played quarterback in high school. Tyler is roughly 11 years older than him.

What is Chambliss’ Ethnicity?

Chambliss’ full name is Trinidad Jay Chambliss. “Trinidad” is the Spanish word for “Trinity,” and his name came from a unique inspiration. His father once watched a boxing match featuring Puerto Rican legend Félix Trinidad and felt the surname was a perfect fit.

Chambliss is a Black American, but details about his specific ethnic background have not been publicly shared. However, he does not have ties to the country of Trinidad and Tobago.

Where Did Chambliss Go to High School?

Chambliss attended Forest Hills Northern High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he excelled as a two-sport athlete in football and basketball. His senior year in 2020 was shortened by COVID. His team played just seven games that season, but he still threw for 1,610 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Chambliss lined up at multiple positions in high school and earned recognition as a Prep Redzone Stock Riser, a 2020 MLive Grand Rapids Dream Team selection, and a 2020 AP all-state honoree. On the basketball court, he was also named all-state by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan.
