The current World No. 18, Mboko, had a notable 2025 year, during which she won the singles title at the Canadian Open and reached the quarterfinals of the Japan Open in both singles and doubles with partner Bianca Andreescu. She clinched her second WTA singles title at the Hong Kong Open, after defeating Cristina Bucșa in the final round.
Apart from these feats, Mboko also led her team to a 2-0 Playoff-Off win against Mexico and secured a spot at the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers. Her team member, Carson Branstine, overcame Julia Garcia, whereas Mboko defeated Renata Zarazua, which led the team to claim its position successfully.
Considering the big win, Mboko had mentioned, “Today was obviously a difficult match. It’s never easy to play a really great, talented player, especially in their home country. I’m glad I was able to lock in and get the win today for the team.” (via Canadian Press)
Mboko is now looking forward to her debut at the 2026 United Cup, and while expressing her excitement, she recently mentioned, “I’m really excited. This is my first time playing such an event and playing the whole Australia swing, so there are a lot of new experiences and so many new things to come. I’m excited to play United Cup. It’s a really fun event and to be here with Felix and the team, it’s really great.” (via ATP Tour)
Whereas Auger-Aliassime also has a history of success in team events, having won the ATP Cup with Team Canada in 2022, defeating Team Spain with a final score of 2-0. The tournament took place in Australia and is now defunct.
He will now be representing Team Canada at the United Cup, and regarding that, he shared his positive thoughts: “I have great memories playing in the past team events here in Australia. We actually won with our team [the ATP Cup] in Sydney a couple years back, so it would be nice to get a win again.”
The ATP star is also coming off an impressive season, during which he clinched three singles titles: the Adelaide International, Open Occitanie, and BNP Paribas Fortis European Open. The 25-year-old also represented Team Canada at the 2019 Davis Cup, when they reached their first final, and in 2022, when they won their first title.
