Alabama Targets 13-TD Transfer Portal WR for Kalen DeBoer’s Offense

Alabama could add an explosive replacement for Germie Bernard, who recently declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, through the transfer portal.

Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard is set to depart for the NFL after declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft. During his last two seasons with the Crimson Tide, the NFL-bound receiver recorded 110 receptions for 1,596 yards and nine touchdowns.

With the departure of Bernard needing to be addressed in the offseason, head coach Kalen DeBoer will also have to deal with the decline of Ryan Williams this season. After recording 48 receptions for 865 yards in his freshman year, the Alabama wide receiver recorded just 43 receptions for 636 yards in 2025.

Alabama Targets Transfer Portal WR From Auburn

According to a prediction piece by PFSN’s Ryan Guthrie on Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman’s potential destination, Alabama has emerged as a possible landing spot. Coleman earned a 75.2 WR impact grade from PFSN analytics after recording 56 receptions for 708 yards. Guthrie also noted that Alabama made a strong effort to recruit Coleman during his high school career.

“The Crimson Tide heavily recruited Cam Coleman out of high school, and with Germie Bernard off to the NFL, there’s a clear opening opposite Ryan Williams on the outside. If Alabama gets the 2024 versions of both players, opposing SEC defenses would be stretched to the breaking point,” Guthrie wrote.

While both receivers are suffering a downturn in red zone output in 2025, DeBoer may be able to return them to their 2024 form by pairing them together. In 2024, during their freshman year, both Coleman and Williams recorded eight touchdowns as true freshmen.

Following the decision to fire Hugh Freeze, it was reported back in November that Coleman would choose to enter the transfer portal. Despite significant efforts from Alex Golesh to retain the receiver, Coleman instantly jumped to the No. 1 transfer portal prospect.

“Industry sources felt way back in November that it was likely Cam Coleman would enter the portal. The new Auburn staff made a big push to keep him, but he now enters the WR market as a legitimate game-changer at WR. Can play pretty much wherever he wants,”  reported CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer.

With reports from Hummer suggesting the Tigers’ receiver could play for almost any team in the country, Guthrie has linked some of the top programs in the country as potential landing spots. This includes Alabama, Texas A&M, and the Texas Longhorns.

However, the Crimson Tide would most likely be the only spot where he would have to fight for the No. 1 wide receiver role. With Bernard departing for the NFL, Williams announced earlier Tuesday that he would be staying at Alabama for 2026.

Following that announcement, if Alabama were to land the Auburn receiver, it could potentially have one of the best wide receiver tandems in college football. However, the Crimson Tide will face significant competition to land the Tigers’ star receiver.
