The NFL has announced its Week 18 schedule, placing the Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers matchup on Sunday Night Football. While the game carries major implications, many fans are unhappy with the decision and have taken to social media to voice their frustration.
Fans Call Out NFL’s Decision on Ravens-Steelers Schedule
The NFL chose to flex the Week 18 clash between the Steelers and Ravens to Sunday Night Football, giving it the primetime spotlight. While the league clearly views this divisional rivalry as too big to pass up, not all fans agree with the decision. Instead of excitement, the move has sparked criticism across social media.
Many fans have complained that the decision was predictable and argued that the San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks matchup deserved the primetime slot instead. That game, scheduled for Saturday night, carries even higher stakes, as the winner would not only take control of the NFC West but also secure the No. 1 seed.
Kyle Posey of Niners Nation shared a post on X highlighting an unfair advantage for the Ravens, who will get an extra day of rest compared to the Steelers, who are coming off a disappointing Week 17 loss. He also questioned why the 49ers–Seahawks game was overlooked.
“So the Ravens get an extra day of rest after going 8-8 and get Sunday night against the 9-7 Steelers fresh off losing to the Browns for a chance to be the 4th seed in the AFC.

“You had the 49ers-Seahawks staring you in the face to end the regular season with a chance to be the No. 1 seed in the clear-cut better conference, and we’re two weeks removed from both teams playing the most exciting games of the second half. The NFL blew this.”
Reacting to Posey’s post, one fan called the NFL’s decision “silly,” writing, “A silly decision. If both teams were 13-3 and had their stars, this would be a great game. There are a whole bunch of guys missing, and the teams are mid this year. Pittsburgh scored six points today!”
Another fan labeled the move “NFL TV politics,” writing, “I’m guessing this is NFL TV politics. ESPN paid a mint for rights, and they get the Saturday night Niners-Hawks showcase because NBC has the Super Bowl. It’s also the typical East Coast bias, same ol’.”

Another X user bluntly wrote: “Steelers/Ravens being SNF over Seahawks/49ers is preposterously baffling decision making from the NFL.”
An NFL insider also pointed out how the schedule puts Seattle at a disadvantage, with the team playing a critical game on a short week: “This is kind of crappy for Seattle, to be honest. They’re traveling back from the East Coast tonight, and then have to go on the road again on a short week to try and win their division and the one seed.”
The NFL has clearly put its faith in the Steelers–Ravens rivalry to deliver on Sunday night, with both teams battling for the AFC North title and a playoff spot. If the game fails to live up to expectations, however, the backlash from fans on social media may only grow louder.
