Vegas Golden Knights Urged to Get Mitch Marner Some Help, Raid Canucks for In-Demand Scorer

30-year-old standout Vancouver Canucks winger on the trade block might be the answer to the Vegas Golden Knights' woes.

Despite their top-tier position in the Pacific Division, the Vegas Golden Knights’ recent campaign has been underwhelming. One of the brightest spots on the team has been veteran Mitch Marner, but now the team is being pressured to bring in some help for him.

Who Should the Golden Knights Bring In To Help Boost Their Offense?

The team has lost all but one of its past five matches and, for all intents and purposes, is in a precarious position right now as the competition intensifies daily.

In the Knights’ latest defeat at the hands of Central Division stars, the Colorado Avalanche, Marner was the only one from Vegas to score during the shootout. Marner could use some help, in all honesty, and the best part is that the ideal candidate could be readily available for the Vegas front office.

The Vancouver Canucks’ 2025-26 season has entered unsalvageable territory: it seems there is no turning around the season, and not too long ago, the Canucks had to part ways with franchise cornerstone Quinn Hughes. The Vancouver front office cannot completely trade the team out of this situation, but it could mean something.

Kiefer Sherwood and Evander Kane were among the first among Canucks to be placed on the trade block. Sherwood is likely to be traded ahead of the deadline in March, and while the Dallas Stars have been floated as a potential destination for the 30-year-old winger, the Golden Knights could also be a worthy suitor.

Writing for The Athletic, Jesse Granger explained how Sherwood could fit right in with the Canucks’ division rivals. “I’m not expecting a blockbuster deal out of the Golden Knights this deadline, but Kiefer Sherwood would be an excellent addition. He does a lot of things Vegas desperately needs out of its wingers at the moment,” wrote Granger, emphasizing that Sherwood could be one of the few moves that the Golden Knights make at the trade deadline.

The 30-year-old’s physique and play could sweeten the deal for the Golden Knights, who desperately need some bite. Moreover, the winger is a proven good scorer. “He’s big, strong, good on the forecheck, and drives the front of the net. For all of the playmakers the Golden Knights have up front, they could use some brute force. Sherwood has all of that, plus the ability to score,” Granger wrote, further strengthening the point.

Given that Sherwood keeps producing at his current level, any deal involving him could “net the Vancouver Canucks a first-round pick, along with another piece,” wrote Edward Jaxon for Vancouver Hockey Daily.

While it can be said with almost complete certainty that Sherwood will be moved, how the teams interested in the winger navigate the situation to land him will be an interesting development in the storyline.
