Townsend, known for her social media flair, recently posted a series of photos. Osaka couldn’t resist reacting to her friend’s elegance and even drew her response, highlighting their playful and supportive bond.

A look at Naomi Osaka and Taylor Townsend’s 2025 season
Naomi Osaka’s comeback from maternity leave in 2024 did not immediately restore her trademark dominance, but her trajectory showed clear signs of progress this season. The Japanese star snapped a four-year title drought by lifting the WTA 125 trophy in Saint-Malo, and despite not being a tour-level event, the title played a significant role in rebuilding her confidence for the road ahead.

Building on that resurgence, the 28-year-old produced a string of impressive results when needed the most. She reached the final of the WTA 1000 event in Montreal, where she fell to home favorite Victoria Mboko, before backing it up with a semifinal run at the 2025 US Open, halted by Amanda Anisimova. It is worth noting that earlier in the year, Osaka also made the final in Auckland. She wrapped up the season as World No. 16 and with a strong 35–15 win-loss record.
Townsend, meanwhile, capped off a standout campaign as the World No. 2 in doubles. Her dominance was reflected in three WTA titles at Osaka, the Dubai Duty Free Championships, and the Australian Open, and a superb 44–10 win–loss record. She wrapped up the year at the WTA Finals alongside Kateřina Siniaková, where the pair fell in the semifinals to Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova.
