It was a wild night when the Detroit Lions took on the Pittsburgh Steelers at home in Week 16. A game with massive playoff implications for both sides saw Pittsburgh walk away with a victory after one of the most controversial game-ending calls in recent memory. However, the pandemonium had been boiling over all night long.
With both teams in the thick of the playoff race, the contest was emotionally charged and intense. Unfortunately, early in the game, those feelings boiled over, with the superstar wide receiver getting into an altercation with a fan in attendance. As it turned physical, a new camera angle may make it hard for Metcalf to walk away from the incident unscathed.
DK Metcalf Instigated Physicality Against the Fan
The incident occurred early in the game. Since it was out of the officials’ sight, no action was taken against the former Seattle Seahawks superstar immediately.
However, it was clear that trouble could be brewing, with voices across the NFL world calling for a major consequence against him. Going so far as to suggest a suspension, nothing was off the board for the incident.
A new camera angle, though, has made it all the worse for Metcalf. In the clip, the star wide receiver can be seen making his way to the fan, who is mouthing off at him. However, rather than keep the animosity verbal, he chose to pull at the attendee’s hair, before finally letting go.

Unfortunately, with NFL insider Adam Schefter confirming that the league will review the tape to decide what action can be taken against him, it could lead to some major consequences for Metcalf. As it stands, the rulebook isn’t going to land in his favor.

The NFL is allowed to fine or suspend him based on the incident. The league will review the conflict, and a punishment will be enforced, as severe as it may be, based on its review of the video.
There is a maximum fine, and alongside a fine, the star wideout can be suspended for Pittsburgh’s upcoming key matchups.
Thankfully, there is a good possibility that the Steelers can secure the division lead and take a vice-like grip on the division this week. Eeking out the victory over Detroit has now set them up perfectly to win the AFC North, with Metcalf contributing with 42 yards on four receptions.
