Learner Tien won the Next Gen ATP Finals 2025 by defeating second seed Alexander Blockx 4-3(4), 4-2, 4-1 in the final. The 20-year-old, who lost to João Fonseca in the title clash in last year’s edition of the competition, put in a commanding display in Jeddah throughout the tournament.
A Look at Learner Tien and Others’ Earnings from Next Gen ATP Finals 2025
The total prize pool at the tournament in Jeddah is $2,101,250 and Tien will earn $502,250, which is a little less than the quarter of the full sum. This includes $75,000 for winning two of his three group matches, $116,000 for winning his semifinal, $157,250 for triumphing in the final, and a participation fee of $154,000.
Runner-up Alexander Blockx will bag $382, 500 for his runner-up finish. The Belgian won all of his matches throughout the tournament until falling up short against Tien.
Fifth seed Nicolai Budkov Kjær and sixth seed Nishesh Basavareddy are the two losing semifinalists and they will each earn a prize money of $229,000 for their runs. Seventh seed Rafael Jódar will also pocket the same amount for winning two of his group matches, which wasn’t enough to see him reach the semifinals.
Third seed Dino Prižmić won just one of his round-robin matches at the Next Gen ATP Finals and he will earn $191,500, while Martín Landaluce and Justin Engel will each only bag their appearance fee of $154,000 after losing all of their matches. Gilles-Anaud Bailly and Rodrigo Pacheco Méndez were both alternates in the competition but could not play as none of the eight players withdrew. So, the two will each receive $15,000.
Tien Ends 2025 Season With Top 30 Finish
Tien won 36 out of 60 matches (including the Next Gen ATP Finals) during the 2025 season, producing some promising performances. This included winning his maiden ATP singles title in Metz and reaching the final of the China Open.
The American also made the second week of a Grand Slam for the very first time in his career at the Australian Open, where he beat Daniil Medvedev in the second round. Additionally, he reached the quarterfinals at the Mexican Open, defeating Alexander Zverev in the process.
Tien started the year ranked 122nd but will end as the World No. 28, becoming one of the most improved players of 2025. Having produced some impressive performances, the 20-year-old will look to do considerably better in 2026 and give a tough fight to the world’s top players.
