As part of WTA Awards week, the Tour has been honoring the season’s standout contributors across the sport, players, tournaments, event staff, and more. And Amanda Anisimova couldn’t stop gloating over this coach receiving the WTA Coach of the Year recognition.
Amanda Anisimova Beams With Pride
Among the top accolades, Anisimova’s coach, Hendrik Vleeshouwers, was named, a historic recognition. The American star was quick to express her pride in her coach’s landmark achievement.
Anisimova authored one of the season’s most compelling ascents, with her resilience on full display throughout the year. Despite starting the season outside the top 30, the American captured her maiden WTA 1000 crown at the Qatar Open. She then surged to back-to-back Grand Slam finals at the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open, and then eventually lifted her second WTA 1000 title at the China Open in Beijing.
Another significant milestone came in September, when Anisimova climbed to a career-high No. 4 in the rankings, a position she has retained since. The 24-year-old capped her season with a semifinal run at the WTA Finals in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, where she pushed World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to three sets but eventually fell.
It is fair to say Anisimova will carry plenty of positives into the next season, with Hendrik Vleeshouwers’ guidance proving just as pivotal in shaping the best year of her career.
Vleeshouwers, 40, was a constant presence in Anisimova’s box, regularly seen urging the American on and offering timely, decisive guidance. The Dutch’s influence did not go unnoticed, as he was recently named the 2025 WTA Coach of the Year, an honor voted on by WTA-registered coaches.

Anisimova celebrated the moment by reposting a WTA image of her coach passionately cheering from the stands, adding emojis to underline her pride on her Instagram story.
In the wake of the recent WTA awards ceremony, WTA CEO Portia Archer said, “Congratulations to all of our WTA Award winners and nominees. Your dedication, resilience and passion continue to elevate our sport and inspire fans around the world. We are proud to celebrate your achievements and honored to support your journeys on and off the court.”
It is worth noting that World No. 3 Coco Gauff won the Jerry Diamond Award, the ACES Award for promoting women’s tennis to the media, local communities, and fans, by participating in charitable events. Apart from that, her compatriot Jessica Pegula was awarded the Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award for her gracious conduct and respect for her peers.
