LeBron James’ Agent Rich Paul Fires Back at Claims That He’s the Lakers Star’s Mouthpiece

Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, famously the agent of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, tries to set the record straight about his opinions.

Throughout the NBA career of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, Klutch Sports agent Rich Paul has become a familiar name to NBA fans, establishing a reputation as one of the most effective agents in professional sports.

However, the rise in power has come with the price of many believing he is a puppet of sorts for James, and anything that the future Hall of Famer wants to make happen will happen, in terms of control over his career and the teams he has played on over the last two decades.

Rich Paul Explains His Relationship With LeBron in His Own Words

In an interesting twist, as James begins his 23rd NBA season with the Lakers, Paul has joined forces with Max Kellerman to create a podcast, “Game Over.”

However, Paul’s comments on the podcast, much like James’ comments on his podcast with Steve Nash, “Mind the Game”, will likely attract a fair share of criticism, as it may seem like agendas are at the core of his motivation.

One thing that has followed Paul during his career as an agent is that many believe he’s nothing but a sounding board for James’ opinions, which Paul recently addressed via NBA Courtside’s X account.

“It’s the weirdest thing,” Paul said. “It goes to show how people think. Yes, LeBron gave me an opportunity that I am appreciative of but if you talk to the man himself, he’ll tell you, ‘That guy has his own mind.'”

It comes as no surprise that Paul would downplay any notion that he’s spreading James’ agenda, as no one wants to be known for being someone’s puppet or instrument to create or discredit narratives.

It’s safe to assume the CEO of Klutch Sports will continue to make headlines every week if Kellerman presses him on controversial issues. This could be a tactic to stay relevant if James decides this is his last season in the NBA or if his longtime agent sees the end is drawing near for the four-time NBA champion.

As of James, the Lakers superstar will continue to try to hold Father Time at bay while helping lead his squad while playing alongside fellow stars Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves. Los Angeles has been better than expected during the 2025-26 campaign thus far, as they have one of the best records in the league while proving to be a heavyweight in the Western Conference.
