While the Jets have officially been eliminated from playoff contention, they remain firmly in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. With three games still remaining, here’s a look at New York’s updated odds and what needs to happen for them to land the top selection.
What Are the Jets’ Chances of Landing the No. 1 Overall Pick?
At this stage of the 2025 NFL season, the Jets are largely playing out the string. With playoff hopes long gone, the team has endured a difficult campaign in Glenn’s first year as head coach, struggling to find consistency on either side of the ball.
Following their Week 15 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Jets fell to 3–11 after being officially eliminated from postseason contention last week. The blowout loss to the Jaguars slightly improved New York’s odds of securing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
According to PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor, the Jets currently have a 5.40% chance of landing the top pick, and that number could rise depending on how the final weeks unfold.
With three teams entering Week 15 holding only two wins, New York will need several results to break its way to realistically compete for the No. 1 pick, and that goes beyond simply losing out.
The remainder of the Jets’ schedule includes several challenging matchups:

- Week 17: Jets vs. New England Patriots
- Week 18: Jets at Buffalo Bills
Much of New York’s struggles can be traced to the quarterback position. Justin Fields failed to meet expectations and was eventually benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor, who proved to be a capable backup before suffering an injury in Week 14. Since then, New York has turned to rookie Brady Cook.
Quarterback is expected to be the Jets’ top priority this offseason, and they possess the draft capital needed to pursue a franchise signal-caller. Recent mock drafts have already linked New York to Fernando Mendoza.
