After Week 14, do the Dallas Cowboys have any shot of making the playoffs or winning the NFC East from the Philadelphia Eagles?

After winning three straight games entering Week 14, the Dallas Cowboys ultimately lost their clash against the Detroit Lions in a game that had massive playoff implications for both teams.

Dallas Cowboys’ Latest Playoff Odds After Week 14

A 3-5-1 start was a perplexing ride for fans in Dallas, as the team had some exceptional showings, including a shootout victory over the New York Giants and an overtime thriller against the Green Bay Packers.

But they were also a team that lost to the Carolina Panthers and got blown out by the Arizona Cardinals. As a result, it seemed impossible to invest in them, particularly given the defense’s near-bottom-of-the-league standing.

However, at the trade deadline, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones chose to do just that — investing heavily in the roster by making two trades that brought in Logan Wilson and Quinnen Williams to the roster.

Since then, the defense has shown marked improvement, winning three games in a row, including a victory over the two teams that appeared in Super Bowl 59 within a span of four days (the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs).

PFSN’s Playoff Predictor, which gives an estimate on how the season is going to play out for the entire league while keeping the strength of schedule in mind, was also unwilling to write off the Cowboys completely.

However, with their 44-30 loss to the Lions in Week 14, the Cowboys’ playoff chances took a significant hit. But with the Eagles playing their worst football of the season and dropping their third-straight game with Monday’s overtime loss to the Chargers, could the Cowboys make a run at the division title?

PFSN’s model currently gives the 6-6-1 Cowboys a 12.5% chance to make the playoffs and a 12.4% chance of winning the NFC East.

Philly’s loss caused their odds of winning the division to drop to 87.6%. While they are still in the driver’s seat given their lead over Dallas, the fact that Jalen Hurts and Co. are struggling mightily right now has to give Cowboys fans some hope.

Although the Cowboys were not able to capitalize against the Lions, they still have a chance to make some noise.

The Cowboys’ final four games are against the Minnesota Vikings and Chargers at home, followed by two road contests against the Washington Commanders and New York Giants.

Meanwhile, the Eagles will face the Las Vegas Raiders at home, the Commanders and Buffalo Bills on the road, and then close out their season against Washington again at home.
