Frances Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz recently shared a hilarious moment on the court in Newark, New Jersey, after the Spaniard received an unexpected proposition from a fan in the stands.
Both players were in the city for an exhibition tournament where Alcaraz received a marriage proposal from a fan in the stands, which Tiafoe promptly shut down.
This was not the first time Alcaraz had received a marriage proposal. In 2024, during the ATP Finals in Turin, a fan had asked the World No. 1 to marry her while he was signing autographs.

Alcaraz and Tiafoe, along with Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova, recently participated in “A Racquet at The Rock,” an exhibition event held on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, at the Prudential Center in Newark.
The tournament featured Alcaraz and Tiafoe competing against each other in a singles match, while Pegula and Anisimova faced off in another singles match. All four players also participated in a mixed doubles match.
During his singles match against Tiafoe, a man in the arena shouted and asked Alcaraz if he would marry him, causing laughter to erupt throughout the stadium. Once the laughter subsided, Tiafoe quickly shut down the proposal for the Spaniard before serving, prompting another round of laughter from the spectators.
“Carlos will you marry me?” a fan shouted.
“h*ll no,” Tiafoe replied.

This year, Alcaraz wrapped up his tennis season after competing in the 2025 ATP Finals. He defeated Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Lorenzo Musetti, and Félix Auger-Aliassime before finishing as the runner-up to Jannik Sinner.
The World No. 1 finished his season with eight titles, including the 2025 French Open and the US Open, both of which he won by defeating Sinner in the finals. He secured three ATP Masters 1000 titles: the Monte-Carlo Masters, the Italian Open, and the Cincinnati Open.
Alcaraz also won the 2025 ABN AMRO Open, the Queen’s Club Championships, and the Japan Open, had runner-up finishes at the Barcelona Open and the ATP Finals, reached the semifinals at the Indian Wells Masters, and advanced to the quarterfinals at the Qatar Open.
Meanwhile, Tiafoe concluded his 2025 season at the Shanghai Masters, where he lost to qualifier Yannick Hanfmann in his opening match. His best result of the season was a runner-up finish at the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships. He also reached the quarterfinals at the Citi DC Open before falling to compatriot Ben Shelton.
