Amanda Anisimova Enjoys ‘Good Day’ With John McEnroe as She Kicks Her Pre-Season Training Into High Gear

Amanda Anisimova was seen meeting with former World No. 1 John McEnroe while training at his academy ahead of the 2026 season.

Amanda Anisimova has returned to the court and is currently preparing for the 2026 season. Recently, she was spotted training with John McEnroe at his tennis academy.

Anisimova concluded her 2025 season after participating in the WTA Finals. Here, she lost her opening match to eventual champion, Elena Rybakina, but then made a comeback and defeated Madison Keys and former champion Iga Świątek in her next two group matches. In the semifinals, she lost to eventual runner-up Aryna Sabalenka.

Amanda Anisimova Trains At John McEnroe’s Academy Ahead of 2026 Season

After wrapping up her campaign in Riyadh, the World No. 4 took some time away from tennis to rest and recuperate. She spent quality time with friends and family, celebrated Thanksgiving, and much more.

Recently, Anisimova took to social media and revealed that she is back on the court, training for the upcoming season. She practiced at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy and shared some videos of her time spent with McEnroe.

“It was a good day 😂 🙌🏼,” Anisimova captioned her Instagram post.

During the 2025 season, Anisimova won two titles, both of which were WTA 1000 events. She claimed victory at the 2025 Qatar Open and the China Open, defeating Jeļena Ostapenko and Linda Nosková in the finals, respectively. She also reached the semifinals at the 2025 Charleston Open and had quarterfinal runs at the Hobart International, Trophée Clarins, and the Berlin Tennis Open.

In Grand Slam tournaments, Anisimova finished as the runner-up at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships and the US Open, losing in the finals to Świątek and Sabalenka, respectively. At the French Open, she fell in the fourth round to the eventual runner-up, Sabalenka, and was eliminated by Emma Raducanu in the second round of the Australian Open.

Amanda Anisimova To Begin 2026 Season at the Brisbane International

Looking ahead, Amanda Anisimova is set to begin her 2026 season at the Brisbane International, which will be held from January 4 to January 11, 2026. The matches of this WTA 500 hard court tournament will take place on the outdoor hard courts at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Speaking about her playing at the Brisbane International, Anisimova mentioned that she is excited to start her 2026 season in Brisbane. She stated that the tournament will help her gain “momentum” leading up to the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open.

“I love playing in Australia and I’m really looking forward to starting my 2026 season in Brisbane. It’s the perfect setting for me to build some momentum ahead of the AO,” Anisimova said.

In addition to Anisimova, players such as defending champion Sabalenka, former champion Rybakina, Keys, Daria Kasatkina, and others will also compete at the Brisbane International.
