Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl Swiftly Approaching Wayne Gretzky Territory

Despite the Oilers having a rough season, the duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl continue to reach new heights with their latest milestone.

The Edmonton Oilers may be enduring one of their worst seasons in franchise history, but two bright spots continue shining through the darkness. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl remain among the most dangerous duos in hockey despite the team’s struggles around them.

The dynamic pair has been producing at elite levels since they first became linemates. Their chemistry consistently generates offense, regardless of who else occupies their wing. Now, the duo has achieved a milestone that places them among hockey’s all-time great partnerships.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl Enter Top Five For Most Goals Factored On By Teammates

McDavid and Draisaitl have now combined to factor in 503 goals throughout their time as Oilers teammates. The accomplishment places them fifth on the all-time list for most goals factored in by a pair of teammates in NHL history.

The duo trails only legendary partnerships in the record books. Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri sit atop the list with 764 goals factored in during their dominant Edmonton dynasty years. The Sedin brothers, Daniel and Henrik, rank second with 745 goals during their remarkable careers in Vancouver.

Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier combined for 622 goals with the New York Islanders during their dynasty era. Alex Delvecchio and Gordie Howe factored in 560 goals together in Detroit. McDavid and Draisaitl have now surpassed Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom’s 502 goals to claim fifth place.

The accomplishment becomes even more impressive considering McDavid and Draisaitl are still in their prime years. Both players have significant time remaining in their careers to climb the all-time leaderboard. Top: Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on ice in Oilers uniforms. McDavid continues pacing toward another Art Ross Trophy despite Edmonton’s team struggles. The 28-year-old captain remains the most dynamic offensive player in hockey.

McDavid’s vision and playmaking ability create countless scoring opportunities for his linemates. Draisaitl complements McDavid perfectly with his elite finishing ability and underrated playmaking. The 30-year-old German forward is one of the league’s premier goal scorers.

His one-timer from the left circle remains among hockey’s most dangerous weapons. The duo has carried Edmonton’s offense for years now. They’ve combined for multiple 100-point seasons and led the Oilers to back-to-back Stanley Cup Final appearances.

Their partnership represents one of the most productive in modern NHL history. However, individual accomplishments ring hollow without team success. McDavid and Draisaitl want Stanley Cup championships, not just personal milestones.

Whether they can climb the all-time goals list while also delivering Edmonton’s first championship since 1990 remains the defining question of their careers. For now, they can celebrate joining an elite company among hockey’s greatest tandems.
