Frances Tiafoe Opens Up About Massive Changes He Made to His Team After End of 2025 Season

Following his campaign in Shanghai, Tiafoe took to social media to reflect on his season. He acknowledged that it wasn’t the year he had hoped for, but he mentioned that he learned a lot from the experience. He also announced that he had parted ways with his team and coaching staff, stating that it was time for a change.

“2025 season has come to an end early this year for the kid. It wasn’t the season I hoped for but lots of lessons learned on and off court,” Tiafoe said. “That being said I’ve decided it’s time for a change. It’s been a great ride and only bigger and better things for all of us ahead.”

Recently, Tiafoe participated in the 2025 Charlotte Invitational alongside Venus Williams, Madison Keys, and Taylor Fritz. The exhibition event took place on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

While addressing the media in Charlotte, the former World No. 10 was asked about the changes he made to his team after the 2025 season. He explained that he sought a “fresh start” in 2026 by doing something different and embracing being a little “uncomfortable” to challenge himself in the new season.

“I got rid of more than just two guys; just wanted a fresh start. I’ve been doing the same thing for a very long time. I’ll be 28 at the top of the year, and I kind of want to do something different. I wanna get a little bit uncomfortable and then see what happens, and why not?” Tiafoe said.

Tiafoe expressed confidence that the changes he has made will yield positive outcomes, although he did not reveal the identities of those who would join his team in 2026.

“I don’t think there’s any bad thing that can come out of that. But as far as what’s going forward, I guess you guys wait and see. Wait and see who I decide to bring with me and go on this crazy journey we call life,” he added.

Tiafoe’s best result of the season came at the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships, where he finished as the runner-up after losing to compatriot Jenson Brooksby in the final. He also had a quarterfinal run at the Citi DC Open before being eliminated by Ben Shelton.
