Last season, the Duke Blue Devils made the Final Four with an elite roster that featured several current NBA players.
Two of those players were Cooper Flagg (Dallas Mavericks) and Kon Knueppel (Charlotte Hornets).
Kon Knueppel Reveals Text Message From Cooper Flagg
Ironically, both players (who were college roommates) were named as the NBA’s Rookie of The Month from their respective conferences.
Via NBA Communications: “Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg and Charlotte Hornets guard-forward Kon Knueppel have been named the Kia NBA Western and Eastern Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in October/November. Both winners are from the same college (Duke), a first since the NBA began awarding the honor in each conference in 2001-02.”
In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, Knueppel revealed he recently got a text from Flagg.
Knueppel: “He just texted me because we both just won Rookie of The Month… He texted me today, like who would have thought? Two roommates.”

Knueppel was the fourth pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
He is currently averaging 18.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest while shooting 45.7% from the field and 40.7% from three-point range in 22 games.
The Hornets are the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 6-16 record in 22 games.

As for Flagg, he was the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
He is currently averaging 17.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting 47.6% from the field and 25.6% from three-point range in 22 games.
The Mavs are the 12th seed in the Western Conference with an 8-15 record in 23 games.

The Mavs and Hornets faced off on (October 11) in the preseason.
