Eli Drinkwitz’s Missouri Tigers closed out the 2025 regular season with a 31-17 win on the road over the Arkansas Razorbacks. The win at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium improved Missouri’s record to 8-4 overall and 4-4 in Southeastern Conference play.
Under Drinkwitz, the Tigers have now won the Battle Line Rivalry for the fourth consecutive year. They now hold a 5-1 record against Arkansas and a 12-4 mark in the all-time series.
Eli Drinkwitz Shuts Down Coaching Carousel Chatter After Missouri’s Win Over Arkansas
Drinkwitz has been one of the college coaches most frequently linked to other programs this season. After Missouri’s win over Arkansas, he spoke on the topic in his postgame press conference.
“At the end of the day, college football is going to have to change all this stuff,” Drinkwitz said. “We’ve got to figure this out, where we’re not putting pressure on coaches and programs and people during the middle of the week, where there’s nothing but speculation.”
“I mean, we’ve got Twitter trending with bets on who’s going to be leading or get this job, and I was the leading bet getter for a job I never interviewed for. That’s annoying. That’s bull cr*p. Okay? And it’s just speculation. It’s just media throwing stuff on the wall, and it’s tough on everybody. It’s tough on players, it’s tough on coaches.”
Drinkwitz joined Missouri in December 2019 after one season at Appalachian State. On Thursday, he agreed to a new six-year contract with the Tigers, which will keep him in charge through the 2031 season. The deal was announced shortly after the University of Missouri Board of Curators unanimously approved it.
Missouri has reached a bowl game in each of Drinkwitz’s first five seasons. His recent success with the Tigers is the reason why he was rumored to be a potential fit for the openings at Penn State, LSU, Auburn, and Florida. However, he reaffirmed his commitment to Missouri once again on Saturday.
“This place has been nothing but great to me,” Drinkwitz said. “I just felt like we weren’t done yet. We weren’t done yet. That North End Zone isn’t completed. And so my job here is not completed yet, and I appreciate the way our administration handled it. There wasn’t any pressure or badgering or anything like that.”
The Tigers, ranked 8th for the season on PFSN’s CFB tOLi with a B+ Grade and impact score of 87.0, are awaiting their bowl assignment, which will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 7.
