Shedeur Sanders’ Brother Claps Back at Critic Slamming the Browns QB for ‘Arrogance’

A public critique of Shedeur Sanders sparks a sharp response from his brother, adding new intrigue to the Browns rookie’s growing spotlight.

The early stages of Shedeur Sanders’ NFL journey have drawn intense attention, and the conversation around him grew louder after his first official start. What seemed like a routine social media critique quickly turned into a moment that revealed how closely the Sanders family is watching the discourse.

The reaction from his brother hinted that the public debate over the Browns quarterback may only be getting started.

Family Response Adds Fuel to Debate Over Rookie QB’s Confidence

A single post by Jon Root escalated the discussion when he claimed, “This isn’t confidence. It’s arrogance.” Root argued that Shedeur “talks like his dad, without having the resume & skillset to back it up,” insisting that “Humility would go a long way.”

The critique questioned Sanders’ demeanor rather than his on-field work, and it drew a response almost immediately.

Deion Sanders Jr. fired back with a brief, amused reply: “😂😂😂 yall boys are funny as hell.” His comment did not directly engage Root’s claims but clearly signaled how the family viewed the criticism. The moment underscored the scrutiny surrounding the young quarterback, even as he is only two weeks into meaningful NFL action.

This exchange came just a day after Juan Carlos Blanco of PFSN wrote an article detailing Sanders’ significant improvement from Week 11 to Week 12. Blanco noted that the rookie’s first start against the Las Vegas Raiders produced a 24-10 Cleveland Browns victory and showcased meaningful progress after his rough emergency appearance the week before.

In that game against the Baltimore Ravens, Sanders completed only four of 16 passes, though head coach Kevin Stefanski later offered important context: the Ravens outing marked Sanders’ first snaps with the first-team offense since being drafted.

Blanco reported that with a full week of preparation before facing the Raiders, Sanders delivered an 11-for-20, 209-yard performance with a touchdown and an interception. He also highlighted several explosive plays, including a 52-yard pass to Isaiah Bond and a 39-yard connection to Jerry Jeudy.

Sanders’ first touchdown was a 66-yard screen pass taken to the end zone by running back Dylan Sampson, illustrating how multiple aspects of the offense came together in a way Cleveland had struggled to achieve under Dillon Gabriel.

Blanco added that Sanders addressed critics directly after the win, stating, “A lot of people wanna see me fail and, it ain’t gonna happen.” That confidence, paired with his noticeable growth, became central to Root’s accusation of arrogance and to Deion Jr.’s lighthearted dismissal of it.

Ultimately, the reaction from Sanders’ brother reinforces the idea that the quarterback’s development will be evaluated not just on the field but also through the broader public conversation that surrounds him. With Stefanski now facing a decision about the Week 13 starter, the debate about Sanders’ readiness and demeanor is likely to continue.
